I'd appreciate the benefit of your experience!
Am planning to take a 6.5 x 55 Kimber-sporterized Swede to Canada as backup to my trusty .30-06 Springfield. Does anyone have any experience with the 6.5 x 55 on elk? I plan to load 140-gr Nosler Partition bullets...what's your recommended load/muzzle velocity?
I plan to load my .30-06 with 180-gr Barnes Triple Shocks or 180-gr Nosler Partitions...should I go with heavier bullets?
I'm an excellent marksman and plan to take my shots under 300-yds. I've never had other than one shot kills on perhaps 30 deer, using 150-gr bullets in the Springfield...but this is my first elk hunt.
