The British usually do pretty well at this sort of contest, but not so good this time.

I have to say it...obviously the reason the USMC didn't win is 99% of their snipers were busy that day so they sent the sniper school Motor T chief and a corpsman.

If you look at the pictures, #12 is kind of disturbing. Looks like if the closer guy shoots, the other guy would lose his hearing...even with the plugs in. But this is just what it looks like...maybe he didn't shoot and was just looking through the scope.

Actually, as pleased as I am to see my branch take the top 5 spots in the competition, it's hard not to notice that the top 3 finishers are all assigned to units that are stationed at Fort Benning, where the competition was held. Makes you wonder if maybe those guys got more training time on the course prior to the event.

Oh, and after the way the Air Force football team pasted Army the other night on the football field, it's kind of nice to see those guys finish in 14th.

First thing I notice is that there were only 2 Marine teams, and they're from the schools.

That's what I meant by "busy that day".

Actually, noting what 'Card said, I would hope ALL our real talent is over in theater unless they're back here as instructors.

I know, but you didn't mention there were so few USMC teams. I mean, two and all those army teams? That may have been the Army's "A" team, but it sure wasn't ours!

I remember a few matches ago, the Brits came with their rifles but no ammo as there was some last minute problems with them bringing their match grade ammo into our country. (figures our gov....You can bring sniper rifles in, but no ammo )

So basically they had to use whatever ammo they could find from our guys.

If you ask me, that's an unfair advantage our boys have over the Brits....

I'd like to see our boys versus the Brits, Russians and Canuks.

That would be a pretty good match. If it was on a even playing field.

Conventional wisdom is that, in general, USMC snipers have a leg up on the Army guys. Is this often the case?

At the higher levels of competition, it is all about individual training and dedication... Not what branch you are in.

22nd — 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, Canada. Names withheld.~ Withdrew due to weapon breakdown.
Not suprised... THe State Department rules on importing weapons (by Foreign Military) makes it hard to get spares... I know what is involved, because F-18 parts can be hard to get back into the US when they are needed by us Canajuns to keep our jets flying while we are there.
