For years, I've been trying to get good results out of IMR4198 in 7.62x39 reloads for a Mini30, with marginal results. Just can't get the velocities out of IMR4198 to get points of impact similar to commercial hunting loads (S&B or FC) and Winch white box FMJ.

So I'm giving Accurate 2200 a try (no AA1680 available). I've read quite a few posts where people have stated they either use AA2200 for 762x39, or they're going to start, but little to no recent info on how the powder worked out. Any feedback on what to expect with AA2200 using .310 123gr FMJs? (mine is not a .308 bbl)

Also, what load weight do you use (+/- half a grain)? I'm not trying to duplicate someone's pet load, merely trying to get an idea on where to start. The load range for AA2200 and 123gr jacketed bullets is 26.5 to 29.4 grains.
Making 10 rds for each 0.1 gr increment between 26.5 and 29.4 would use more than the pound of powder I was able to find.

Just some rangetime feedback: Started at 27.8gr AA2200, and got up to 28.5 gr before light failed me. So far, I good accuracy with 28.0gr, but I didn't stop smoking cases until 28.4gr. Looking forward to running through the next set tomorrow; 28.6 through 29.4gr.

ETA: Finished up today, 12/7/14; found my load.
