In the top mag the bullet sets little up

in the lower mag the bullet touches the body ( blocked by the body ) is that a problem ?

I called C-products and they told me the shorter spring is the newest

but using the shorter spring leads to the bullet hitting the front of the mag's body.

my new bushmaster wouldnt run a whole mag without jamming when i first got it. I had the original mag (made by c products) and 5 c products mags and none of them worked. I sent the gun back to bushmaster and they polished the feed ramp and replaced all the mags with the newer c products mags and it hasnt missed a beat since. I was told on the ar15 form that if you have the old mags just buy a wolf ex power ak47 mag spring and replace the ones you have and it will run also. i dont have any of the old mags left to compare springs but if the shorter ones the new one id about bet its made out of heavier wire.

Is that a problem, If the bullet hitting the front mag body ????

One way to find out for sure. Try them at the range.

If it is a problem, it would be easy enough to clearance the front of the mag with a Dremel or round file. I did that to my CZ70 mags that had the same issue. It wasn't causing a problem for me (with the CZ), but I did it just in case.

C-Products is thowing up a bunch of crap in hopes something sticks.

I've got 13 C-Products and exactly one has worked 100% out of the wrapper so far. All the others have had multiple nose down jams. I've at least four different springs, two variations of follower and three variations in finish.

I've managed to apparently fix them all by using the springs from real AK mags or Wolf Extra Power AK mag springs. They are quite difficult to load with the AK springs but so far I've had no more failures other than a few not going fully into battery if I release the mag catch instead of fully pulling back the charging handle on initial loading with the bolt back.

Only time will tell if they are really reliable or not. At this point my 7.62x39 AR is strictly a range toy, but a very fun one indeed!
Messing wit the feed ramps is a red herring, when it jams the bullet nose never clears the mag top.

I've had zero issues with C-Products 5.45x39 AR mags.

Thanks for the information, Wally. Are there other AR configuration mags that you (or anyone else) have used that work better?

:)

My friend Mark is an engineer, and he cut my HK416 feed tours and welded them on a cut off AK mags , all 7 mags he did work 100%.
He had to modify the HK follower , and refinish the whole thing in Teflon, with electro less nickel finish ( blackened )

I must have had the first gen of the mags, returned them all when I couldn't get more than a round or two at a time through my Colt AR. The C-products customer service was very nice. That said, I don't like being a tester...they should have released a good product. I wish they would start making the Franken-mags again like USA made, they work great. I guess I need to try the new C-products mags.

What kind of train does he drive? :p That isn't a bad idea, might have to give that a shot if all else fails (but I will likely use the cheap Korean steel mags for chopping up).

:)

How is the south Korean steel mags?...are they as good as HK ?
Can't say, I have never tried them, but I have heard that the "almighty-HKs" have had their share of issues too (IIRC the military pulled them all out of service). I stick to PMags, Lancer's, and USGI for my .223 (of course none of the aforementioned make x39 mags). I do have a few Korean M1 Carbine magazines and they have all performed admirably, so I would be willing to give the Korean STANAGs a shot too.

:)
