Turning a die 1/4 turn down moves it about .018" which is too much in one step. Each thread is 1/14 inch apart which is about .072".
One step of die adjustment should be no more than .004" and .002" is better. The label on this die's lock ring is in .002" steps. That's 1/36th of a turn.
