Last year, I found a great deal on a 9mm DWM police Luger made in 1920. It's all matching and in great shape, but I wasn't planning to shoot it due to its age and collectibility. I finally broke down and shot a few magazines through it this weekend and it was amazing! The most accurate pistol I've ever fired. It did have a few jams due to the condition of the original magazine, but it was effortlessly putting its rounds into one small ragged hole right through the bullseye. My P7 and 1911 groups looked like shotgun blasts by comparison.

I knew it was a fine piece of craftsmanship, but I had no idea my 87 year-old Luger could shoot like that. What a beautiful little machine! :D

The Swiss were reluctant to change from the '06 and '29 Lugers to the P210 until it proved to be as accurate as the toggle guns.

Good luck finding a magazine.
The best ammo will be the longest OAL roundnose you can find. Lugers do NOT need "hot" ammunition. If they did, how would a .30 Luger have ever worked?

Yes, it's amazing how accurately they shoot, considering the lousy sights. Mine does quite well with "el cheapo" 9mm Winchester white box loads from Wal-Mart.

They are such a quality gun it is remarkable that everybody doesn't have one. They were not much good for military purposes because they are too precision but for plinking they are superb.

Thanks for sharing!

I finally broke down and got one a couple of years ago. May be the most accurate 9mm I have, but the sites are awful and it appears to be sighted for 100 yds. It also has a pretty descent trigger. I got some aftermarket grips and mags for it so I could save the original.

Not to steal your thread but the title reminded me of another 87 year old tack driver... my grandfather and his old 38 :) Just had to share.

And that is one nice looking Luger. The only complaint I've ever had was that a lot of the American produced ammo isn't hot enough to cycle the toggle reliable in some of the older models. Looks like you have a keeper though.
