870 barrel question

got an 870 about 10 years ago. came with a full choke tube. Questions:
1. can i shoot 00 buck out of this barrel?
2. can I shoot slugs out of this barrel?
3. if I can, I assume choke tube must come out for slugs, right?
4. do i need another barrel for 00 buck and/or slug that is not threaded for a choke tube?

greyeyezz pretty much nailed it. On # 2 it's possible to shoot foster type rifled slugs out of it, but they may be too tight and start pulling the threads out with the choke tube. Go spend $15 and get an I/C Rem choke and don't worry about it. You never had to worry about these questions with the old fixed choke guns, they would shoot any slugs without damage.

Actually my 20" 870 barrel is much more accurate with a IC tube than a rifled tube shooting Foster type slugs, and sabots didn't impress me at all with the rifled tube. What purpose the rifled tube serves i haven't a clue.
