8mm Mausers

Guys, its been a month er so since ive bought a gun and i need somethin new. Anyhow i have been lookin to get an 8mm mauser but dont know what to get or where to get it. I want somoethin thats goin to be a good shooter, in very nice original condition and though im not lookin for any real colectors value in the gun, somethin that may increase or become a colectable would be a plus. Whats are your guys' suggestions and wheres the best place to buy right now? Thanks fellas.

My guess would be a Yugoslovian Mauser. The M48's can be found in near perfect condition, since they are unissued and obsolete the minute they rolled off the production lines. Pretty accurate. Plenty accurate for hunting/plinking. They are all over the place, probably at your local shop too.

Yugoslav M48 or M24/47. The Turk Mausers are pretty cool as well, but harder to find in equivalant condition to the Yugos.

the m48 is great,try a mojo peepsight,ammo is cheep,and you will be good to go.

Look for an M24/47 or M48A. M48s are also fine rifles, but M48As generally had better fit & finish, and will generally function more smoothly out-of-box (box being SOLID BLOCK OF COSMOLINE) than M48s.

I have an M48A and I love it.

I also have an FN49 in 8mm. It's kind of neat, having matched-caliber bolt-action and semiautomatic battle rifles.

SamCo Global is selling WW2 98K's for a couple hundred bucks. Some are German marked according to their ad in the Shotgun News.

Forget the Yugos, they're still plentiful and cheap. Go after Persian Mausers. These are getting more expensive and are some of the finest rifles ever made. Most are in mint condition.

Few weekends ago, I'd picked up a Yugo Mauser48, also found a good deal at Century Arms on 8mm ammunition, $72 for 900rds of 198gr bullets on stripper clips, they also charge $12.50 handling fee.

I wasnt in the market for a surplus rifle, but there at a local gun show, I'd looked it over, had trouble putting it back onto the table,but did anyways.

Got up the next morning and headed back to the gun show and purchased one of them.

$150 out the door.

It like new,all matching numbers and a excellent bore.

Well I guess you could get a Persian, or a 98k. But for me, I cringe every time I fire my 98k because I know some day the bore will be shot out. It's a better safe gun than a shooter IMO. I've only put literally 5 rounds through it, just so I could say I shot it. It'll be in my family for generations to come, and God knows how much it will be worth in the condition it's in (which is good). Therefore, all my 8mm goes to a nice M48. That's my logic.

If your a gun lover, I bet these yugo mausers will actually talk to yeah & say take me home with you.

Their in great condition, if any one is wanting a decent bolt action rifle.

Go after Persian Mausers.

My buddy bought one, and its in great condition---accurate, too. IIRC he paid a bit under $200 for it. M48s are OK, and ore plentifle. And if you can finda Czech VZ-24 in very good condition, by all means buy it. These are some on the best built Mausers ever...unfortunately it seem to be getting hard to find one in really good shape.
