Whatever is cheap, that will work in your gun. Common choices include Winchester White Box (WWB), Remington value packs, Blazer-both the brass and aluminum cases, wolf and tula-if you don't mind steel cases. Sometimes you can find Federal pretty cheap...
what am I forgetting guys??
Buy a box or two of every brand you can find, make sure you like them, and your guns like them, then you can search for bulk prices.

Walmart has WWB and Remington. I dont really want to shoot anything REAL DIRTY. Im not gonna use steel cases like Tula. I heard that can damage the gun.

Sellior & Bellot if you can find it at a good price. It's premium ammo in the Czech Republic and used by CZ to function test their handguns. Here it is relatively inexpensive and thought to be somewhat cheap. That's not the case and it uses a reloadable brass case that you can stock up on until you start reloading.;)

Steel cases damage your gun??? My friend you heard wrong information.

Would half the armies and police agencies in the world issue steel cased ammo if it damaged their guns????? Of course not. That's a myth.

Thats what I read online about the steel casing. I cant remember where plus I read they dirty up pretty quickly. If I had known that then I dont think my brother woulda worried about buying Tula ammo so he bought Remington instead.

If it helps any, Its a CZ Phantom.

+1 on S&B. Great ammo. Sometimes Cabela's has some pretty big piles of the stuff for cheap.

The walmart here don't sell S&B here. Unless I wait till Monday and wait for the firearm store thats about 3 doors down from me has some. He has some ok prices I would think.

We had asked how much was some HP for my bros 45 and he was asking 32.50. I think it was Remington. Is that price ok?

For factory ammo in 9mm Luger I like the prices of CCI Blazer 115gr FMJ, or Speer Lawman 124gr FMJ. Specifically, I like the Blazer if I'm not going to be able to police my brass, and I like the Speer for the reloadable brass. I just recently purchased some Speer 124gr FMJ Lawman from ammoman.com for 22.9¢ per round, and the good reusable brass is a valuable bonus.

Win Value Pak, Win White Box, RWS (Wal-Mart) Rem Value Pak, Blazer, Magtech and Federal are commonly available and the least expensive range ammo.

If you don't like steel cases , be careful with S&B; their cheapest is usually brass plated steel. You cannot tell the difference without a magnet.

I prefer brass. I can reload it, the gun was designed around a brass cartridge, brass is 'softer' when considering the impact on the extracter claw and mag lips. I know, many shoot it with no apparent problems. It's just been my preference for the approx. 25- 30K through my 75B. I recently had an extracter claw snap off and replaced it. Maybe steel cases wouldn't have changed a thing. YMMV.

Federal 10.50
Tula 9.50
Walmart. One of them is always in stock at mall wart. Your source for cheap plastic crap.

Davidfl, you would be most wise to order online.
The other day I ordered 450 rounds of 9mm fmj from Natchez and three of those boxes were Rem. UMC 115 gr. for $9.99 a box.
The CCI Blazer with aluminum cases were like 8.99 a box.
Then there is also GunBroker auctions which large quanties from 500-1000 rounds can be bid on and won with free shipping on some of the auctions.
The other day I won 500 rounds(10 boxes) of top quality Seiller & Bellot in .380 fmj for $116.99 plus another 10.31 for shipping on a GB auction.
It pays to shop and shop often as many times online outfits have daily or weekly specials.
It's my goal of trying to keep at least 1000 rounds of target ammo on hand for the three different caliber of pistols I own for fear of going back through that great ammo drought and price spike we just recently got out of.

In 2010 I shot 10,000+ rounds of Federal Champion without a single hiccup. Its fine ammo.

I've also shot a few thousand rounds of the Tula from wal-mart, all functioned fine, as well.

I only clean my guns every 500ish rounds, and I can tell you that I have not noticed it any dirtier after shooting the Federal, WWB, or Tula. However the Tula ammo while not any "dirtier" does seem to take a little more scrubbing to get clean, however its really negligible.
