I'm looking for a small, light 9mm that can be carried cocked and locked. I love my CZ-75B, but it's a heavy, big gun (especially for a 9mm), and you need a good holster and a stiff belt if you want to carry it well. I have both, but it'd still be nice to have something smaller and in the same caliber.

I'm only currently aware of the CZ 2075 RAMI and the S&W CS9 as new-production guns that fit my description. Between the two, which would you go for? Are there any other options?

(I also have a Star BM, but good Lord, that thing is heavy, too. ;) )

Thanks in advance.

I would go with the RAMI. You already know the manual of arms, and I have heard (although not verified) that you can use full size CZ75 mags for it. Sounds like a good combination to me.

star firestar m-43

i have in .40 short and weak. its the m-40 but same same with the m-43 mines in starver (nickel) and love or money won't buy it. sure its heavy but it soaks up recoil from the .40 nicely. parts are iffy but i have a friend who is a top notch machinist and we made some spare parts ahead of time.

9x19? Too fast for self defense! It'll go straight through! Use a 9x17! The Kel-Tec p3-AT is much smaller than any of those subcompacts!!

I wouldn't mind a polymer framed gun, but I don't know of any that are small AND have a manual safety.

I didn't know the RAMI took CZ-75 mags. It's also the lightest of all the options listed. That sort of seals the deal, I guess.

The listed guns are all great.....I love the RAMI.......the CS9 is NOT cond. 1 capable. Its a decocker and the safety works hammer down only.
The STI is a KILLER gun....but spendy, like 2 RAMI's worth.

Shoot well..........get the CZ.........:D

I went out and shot my new p3-AT this weekend... it's not what I would consider a carry AND a recreational shooter. A 9x17 coming out of something that small stings and tries to wiggle out of your hands...

Those Rami's sure are odd looking...

Another vote for Springfield Ultra Compact 1911 in 9mm.

My wife does well with hers.

Calling all RAMI owners...

Lemme hijack my own thread, if possible: ;)

Those 14-round factory mags for the RAMI with the extended pinkie rest - has anyone used them?

I don't bother with the pinky rest. Seems to work just fine against the bare magazine and I've got the extra recoil of the .40 to contend with. Doesn't pinch or bite. Same with the compact size magazines. Normally I just wrap my pinky under on the standard magazines. It all seems to work fine for me and doesn't seem to put my grip out of position or cause other problems. YMMV and all that :)

Subcompact 9mm C&L pistol? RAMI all the way. I've got the .40 version but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 9mm one if I had the cash handy and had a hankering for one. That new "recurve" trigger seems to shoot a bit better than the older style (like I have on my 75B) and even my accuracy wheel-gun fanatic buddy thought the RAMI was rather nice once I smoothed out the trigger by dry firing it.

CZ seems to keep the mags pretty interchangable so long as its the same caliber. Even the bodies appear to be the same. My 9mm 15 round 75B magazines will lock into my .40S&W RAMI no problem. The feed lips are different but thats it. I'm not going to modify them or anything though.

The up-side to having a compact of sub-compact pistol, IMHO, that takes mags from a full sized gun is on the reloads. Forget the pinky rest and all that jazz. Load up with a regular comforable and concealable magazine as your primary and keep the large ones as reloads. Odds are you'll never need 'em, but once its out in the open you really won't care if you've got an extra 2" sticking out of the bottom of your pistol, nor will you care that much about ergonomics. The extra 5 rounds? Can't hurt!

HK USPc gets my vote.

As much as I love my HK compact, I'd say it hardly makes it into that size category. Since we're looking at subcompacts, HK's are probably going to have to sit this one out.

Springfield Ultra Compact 1911?

Another vote for Springfield Ultra Compact 1911 in 9mm.

I saw one of these "For Sale" at a local indoor range last Sunday; I looked it over real good after I finished shooting my own P228. Totally Cool Gun!

Everyone has already noted the two guns I would recommend: The RAMI and the SA Ultra Compact. I love my RAMI. I am suprisingly accurate with it.
No experience with the extension. I want to get one though.

Don't forget the RAP401
