9mm vs 40

[Caplock]

Now that ammo is getting hard to find what would you rather use to defend yourself. A fmj in 147 grain 9mm or 180 grain 40 S&W?
This is hypothetical....I have plenty of jhp for both calibers. Some day it might matter that you can't buy the "best" ammo..... thoughts?

All other things being equal and not knowing velocity or anything else...I am thinking the bigger and heavier projectile.
