A 10/22 and produce gone bad.

For good or ill, unless you have your own, ranges permitting reactive targets are few and far between.
There used to be strip cuts and stone quarries where you could dance a can. Of course, we didn't always police those cans...
At least fruit is biodegradable.

Y'all know that there's a conspiracy hiding all of the violent vegetables in this country, don't you?
Have you ever seen mainstream media report on eggplant attacks? No? Smashing Pumpkins? 9th Street Gourds?
EXACTLY the media is hiding all of those stories. That is the only reason that you can't even find one on the internet.

There was that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes which was reported in'78...

That’s a problem for lots of folks, unfortunately. I belong to 2 outdoor ranges, one that’s paper only and one that’s paper and their steel, which was only recently added. Neither will allow anything else as people don’t clean up after themselves.

I’m fortunate to have a 50 yard range here on the property.

So what do you do when you have a nice 10/22 left to you by a dear friend who passed in ‘21, oranges, lemons, and a grapefruit that aren’t fit to eat, and 100’s of rounds of CCI 22LR?

Well, I decided it was a good day to play Paul Harrell. I do own a somewhat similar jacket, but it was just too hot and humid to put it on.

I have been meaning to run my stash of CCI target and Mini-Mags through this real nice rifle for the past year to see what shoots better. I figured it was time; this had been Terry’s favorite 10/22 and I figure he would want me to enjoy it as much as he had.

I don’t have a chrono, but I am guessing the MM’s are a good bit faster. If anyone has timed these rounds out of a 10/22, feel free to tell me what you got.

As for accuracy, I was surprised that I shot better groups with the MM’s that with the target rounds. I figure I’ll keep the target rounds for my Buckmark and the MkIII which was also left to me by my old friend, as they both seem to like that round.

I found you can shoot citrus fruit all day long with the target rounds. It just kinda sits there gettin’ mushy. But only expect to hit it once with a MM, as it will explode in glorious fashion. And that’s all just plain fun to see.

i won’t try to equate this to effectiveness against a bad guy or for hunting. But if you ever find yourself under attack by mutant space fruit, I suggest you go with the Mini-Mags.
I've only chrono'ed the 36 grain HP Mini-Mags. I got 1305 fps from my 10/22. The box claims 1260. I too, love my 10/22. My father bought it for me in the late 70's.
