Not sure is the story is correct but I was told some of the guys from Benchmade left and started there own company (Benchmark). can anyone confirm this?
Thanks all

Benchmade knives started as Pacific Cutlery in 1988, Benchmark started in the late 1960s...so no, guys from Benchmade did not start Benchmark.

Benchmark's most famous knife without a doubt had to be the Benchmark Rolex. Introduced in 1969 it was a unique innovation that worked extremely well but didn't catch on. CRKT did a copy using poly parts a few years ago.

The Rolex...

Benchmark originally started life as Jenkins metals in Gastonia, NC. Blackie Collins designed the knives for them.

Then Gerber bought the designs for the Benchmark knives after they went under and R.B.Jenkins Bought Benchmark and all of it's designs back from Gerber and carried on the company for a number of years until he retired and with him the company.

The rights to the Rollox were eventually sold to CRKT.

They never had anything to do with Benchmade.

Thanks

Thank you both for all the info. I now know alot more about this blade. I guess its not as valuable as once thought but I still like it.

Benchmark knives as a rule don't bring high prices from collectors (the Rolex excepted) but they are very good quality knives. Use it and enjoy it.
