A Can of Worms... CCW in 9mm you thoughts

Well the nice thing is you'll have plenty of choices; probably too many unless you narrow down some criteria!

I'll toss out my suggestions, but I think that all the guns listed would be worth considering.

If it were me looking for a compact 9 for carry I'd be tempted to pick up a CZ 2075 RAMI BD. I think it would fit every need you have but the possible downside would be the lack of off the shelf holsters. I really don't know what is offered for it because I don't own one but I'm sure that the choices would be more limited than what is available for more common concealed carry pistols.

I recently picked up a Ruger SR9c for my wife to use and so far I've been very impressed with it. It's quite accurate and it would be an easy pistol to conceal. I'm going to pick up a holster for it and probably carry it a bit myself!

That Ruger LC9 looks sharp. May have to get one for the wife. I currently carry a S&W 3913 NL and love it.

Glock 19 is pretty much going to be the benchmark for a 9mm carry pistol. High capacity, lightweight, enough grip to get a real firing grip on the gun, long enough barrel to not handicap the 9mm velocity, rugged and simple to operate.

There are other manufacturer's variations on this theme, but I'd start with the G19 form factor first and then go from there based on what you find you need/don't need.

Totally agree wit this.

I'd rather have a G26, or a K/E 9, or SR9c, but that's just personal preference. It's usually a good choice to start with the benchmark and develop your own tastes.

I have these three in my Rotation.
Kahr PM9 thin excellent pistol
G27 not as thin better capacity
G 19 not as thin even better capacity excellent all around pistol.

I carry the G27 more than the others combined,More power, and acceptable
capacity.

i, too would +1 the kahr. I don't own one, but i have put some rounds down range from a .40 kahr and it was a real treat to shoot, feels real solid with the steel frame and is quite concealable. I am saving to get one i liked it so much! :D

I would take a good look at the Walther PPS. Trigger-pull and reliability similar to a Glock, but MUCH thinner and easier to conceal.

I have one in .40 S&W, and put the first magazine into the same hole at 7 yds!

$1000 for 9mm opens A LOT of options up to you. If you have a range in your area that lets you rent and shoot guns at the range, and has a good selection, give that a try. A lot of what people have suggested are really good options.

I am enjoying my CZ 75 P-01, the XDm in 9mm is another fine weapon, the SA EMP is very nice as well.

I've carried a Khar P9 and a K9. Both were outstanding weapons. The P9 was super light and you forgot that you had it on. It was a little hard on the hands at the range after 100 rounds or so. The K9 was a sweet shooter and didn't beat you up anywhere near as bad. It was heavier on the belt, but with a good belt and holster combo it's not a problem. Both of them disappeared under a t-shirt.
I've also carried a CZ P-01. It was a great gun, but didn't conceal as well. It's also not as easy to find holsters for. I realized with when I carried this that I prefer carry guns without a hammer.
I currently carry a Glock 19. The fact that its polymer makes it light to carry for it's size. It also conceals much better than I thought it would and there are TONS of accessories for it EVERYWHERE.
What does all this mean? I've spent a lot of money on guns. I would not feel under gunned with any of these pistols. I'd buy any of them again.
Hope this helps.

Another vote here for the Ruger SR9c. Once I decided on the type of gun I was looking for, I started narrowing down the field and it was one of the final contenders. Glocks are just... ugh. So they were out of the question.

What I wanted was reliability, accuracy, simplicity, and firepower in a small package. The trigger is best in class. It's also a lot of fun to shoot, so you enjoy practicing with it. There are other choices, but this one should be on your list of guns to investigate.

I carry a G19 everyday. I got a taurus 709 to try it out and love it. It is slim, single stack, and has good three dot sights. It also has a trigger safety similar to the glocks trigger safety. I've never had a jam or any other problem with it. It's a good carry gun.

I think my next gun is gonna be an LC9.
I first noticed on Ruger's website in about the last full week of January.

I've been doing research on it ever since.

I seems like a perfect pocket gun for me, but I've never held one.
So I guess I have to reserve final judgment til then.

You're getting some good options here. I had to go cheap, and were I doing it again I'd look at Taurus' 24/7c, a reliable compact 9mm pistol.

The LC9 seems interesting but when I discovered that is has no double-strike capability I have no interest in it anymore. If it were striker fire I could kinda understand but the fact that it uses a hammer and mainspring and doesn't have double-strike capability, what's up with that!

I'll stick with my S&W 3914 for now.

Rats, I thought this was going to be an "is 9mm enough" discussion because that hasn't been hashed out enough.:cuss:

Glock 26 w/ Glock +2 extension FTW.

I'd go along with that, although I carry a 27. I decided that I'd try a 9mm with a Taurus pt111 mil pro. That gun has been 100% reliable & a good sd gun, but I wanted a 40s&w/357sig/9mm (with conversion barrels) so I went with the G27...
