Anyone know anything about this maker. All it says is A. Friel 1861 i believe it to be in 32.

Anyone know anything about this maker. All it says is A. Friel 1861 i believe it to be in 32.
I'd guess stamped by a blacksmith as the lettering is pretty crude. Any 'maker of note' in the US at that time took a lot more time putting their name to their work.
Perhaps assembled from a 'generic' lock.

Looking at the photos...
which are not all-inclusive, I'd bet on a date of assembly for this rifle closer to 1961 than 1861.
