A good sign that we are winning.

Let's just hope everything gun related doesn't go south if Obama is reelected.

Luckily the two sides of the isle don’t play well together and the Congress is likely to stay split. That still leaves us vulnerable for new appointments to the SCOTUS.

I'm in full agreement on the usefulness of the AR and try to promote it to anybody who will listen. IMO it is this century's M94 and growing by the day. My only point is, if/when the powers that be decide to restrict us from having them and there is a willing consensus in power they will be less than merciful to those who decide to disobey. I have no fears of Jack Booted Thugs going door to door but more like some innocuous traffic stop or home emergency in which the item turns up and the full weight coming down on the owner along with the appropriate news coverage and film showing the consequences.
I love and hold the Constitution dear but also see most as those who will give up some liberty for a little security and only point to it's modern status as proof. The 47-49% is more than enough to convince me.

Eh, good ergos, low recoil, accurate, super-easy to teach someone on. Nothing wrong with it -- they were "space guns" back in the 60s and 70s. Now they are the standard. Life is good!

good ergos - not as far as I'm concerned and alot of others.
space guns in the 60s & 70s - I don't remember many of us in Vietnam back in the 60's who considered them space guns.
life is good - because of AR's?? Really?
super easy to teach someone on - so are single-action .22 rifles

If you don't like the ergonomics are don't think the gun fits you, that's fine. But a LOT of people like the ergonomics. A LOT.

Maybe an AR15 isn't for you. Doesn't mean it is a bad thing that they are popular. They work, and work well, for an awful lot of people.

Thanks. I'm so happy that's fine with you. And don't put words in my mouth friend. I never said that it was a bad thing.

BTW... My response wasn't directed towards you or do you think you are obligated to defend a Mod?

Sign or is it just another company trying to cash in on the popularity?

water-man: If you think that I will say something simply to agree with or support a moderator, you obviously don't know anything about me, lol. I say/post exactly what I think and why, and I couldn't care less who it agrees or disagrees with. In fact, I had to go back a page to see what you were talking about when you referenced a mod as I had no clue.

Edit: It does happen that I agree with Sam 1911 an awful lot. What's that saying about great minds thinking alike? :)

Uh...isn't this getting a little silly?

If you don't like them, ok.

A lot of people do like them and they're proving to really help a lot of people learn to shoot well, fast, and confidently in widespread and varied ways. (From youngsters to 3-gun champs to hunters, to CMP service rifle, to varmint hunting, to ... whatever.)

Shooting is seeing a huge resurgence and popularity boom right now. AR-15 rifles are a HUGE part of that. They could, perhaps, even be a huge part of WHY.

So, yes, life is indeed good.

Did you notice the designation?,,,

They are now being advertised as MSR's,,,
Modern Sporting Rifles

A tiny marketing change can make a huge difference in perception.

Aarond

.

Although the AR is a good sporting rifle, don't ever let the notion be that sporting is it's purpose. This could be a backfire on the 2nd....

No matter what types of rifles might my preference, I will do whatever helps support any US citizens' rights to own an AR or any other
sporting rifle/modern rifle, in any present caliber (upper).

And that goes for other rifle categories, along with handguns, shotguns, in our anticipation of future SCOTUS appointments.

In a way, I think that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have helped gun rights somewhat as well. A lot of the men and women who served may have never before given any thought about firearms and firearms rights, but then lived-day-in-and-day-out with a gun by their side during their tour(s)-of-duty.

And they may have even felt a tad insulted when they came home and heard on the news or read in the paper's op-eds that "those guns" (scary black plastic guns, or even handguns) were dangerous and didn't belong in their (now) civilian hands.

Eh. I dunno. It's just a thought.

Especially when the guns they operated in the service typically had a fully functional happy switch.

Very good point. Gunownership was very strong in the forties and fifties after WWII and Korea.

Happy switches are really only happy, when Uncle Sam is buying the ammo. ;)
