A newbie's impressions on reading thru the autoloader forum.

i was looking to see which .45 and 9mm pistols are the most reliable. i wasn't particularly interested in price or looks or features etc. here are my impressions on reliabilty. remember these are NOT facts or even opinions.....just a newb's impressions. no flaming please.

HK.....no enough info

1911 models..... it seems to me that name brand 1911's are very reliable according to the posts i read here.

Ruger.....their auto's are VERY reliable EXCEPT for the p345.

Springfield......1911's are very reliable. the XD series seems to have somewhat frequent parts break.

Kimber.....1911's are very reliable

Glock.....i dont think i read even one post complaining about reliability. VERY reliable.

Sig.........reliable.

Others......not enough info on other brands for me.

Conclusions: MY impression is that springfield and kimber 1911's are highly reliable......glocks and rugers are also....EXCEPT for the p345.

Thanks...............Bill

I think you may have uncovered a deep truth: almost all factory semiautos are quite reliable. :)

no no no

lets have another thread where everybody says that THEIRS is the most reliable and the very best! i do have to say, XD was voted gun of the year for some reason....lol

I don't know how long you have been hanging around and reading p-ost, but i have been here a little while and i haven't read a post about frequent parts breakage. if you have any links to these post i would like to see them, i am interested, to see what problems people did have thanks! I haven't had any issues with mine but i would like to hear about any problems that people have had!

Don't forget CZ. 2000 rounds and counting through my P-01 with no cleaning or lubrication - zero failures.

Hello

Bill G,
Welcome to THR! Thanks for posting. I see you are a Harrisburg resident. I live down the street in Hershey.
Take care
Dylan

Bill g,
thanks for the links, i hadn't seen these before, and they are new to me. i don't go over to xdtalk at all so that is why i didn't see them before, i didn't think there were many on THR unless i secretly just don't want to see them and my eyes automatically skip any thread that has any negativity towrads the xd's i don't know wierd huh?:) thanks again brother! thanks for opening my eyes!:what:

i can see clearly now the...........

Bill G, excellent post. Fresh eyes and ears that aren't accustomed to a place - any place, not just gun forums - often see beyond the status quo and notice things overlooked. Welcome to THR and enjoy your time here.

The only mechanical malfunctions that I've seen on a range involved a 1911. I think it was a Kimber. A screw got undone and a spring fell out. The guy spent quite a bit of time hunting for the spring among the ejected casings on the floor... :(

So, modern firearms from quality companies work....interesting...very interesting. :D
Seriously...you've also picked some good companies w/ a history of quality.
