Here are some pictures of a pair of 4"(150)series Ruger Security-Sixes-one blue and one stainless:

Nice! The Six Series was a Revolution in DA design. With just a dime (to remove grip panel), the average Joe (or Jane) could take the gun down with ease.

My favorite design over all the DAs ever made: Simple, Strong, Sleek, and Innovative.

Thanks for sharing slick6. 150s in that condition are a rare treat, especially in stainless.

I'm conflicted.

I saw the stainless pistol first, in all it's "Not Gonna Rust" glory and sporting those nice looking grips.

"Yeah", I thought, "That's the one for me."

Then, I looked at the other one.

Blued steel and traditional wood grips. Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Then, I went back and forth for a minute...

And I finally decided that you, Sir, have the best setup available- Both Of Them!

That's a great pair and I'm quite sure they will serve you well. Enjoy!

Recently added a 6 inch 150- to my collection of "Sixes", somehow I don't think you'll ever see a thread full of pictures of 40 year old LCR's.

Very nice as are the two posted by slick6. I typically had 4" barrel models; never really saw all that many 6" barrel Security Sixes.

I have a pair also but they have been run hard and put up wet many times over the years. They came off a police firing range where they were used in training. The one with non adjustable sights was one of the first Security-Sixes to hit the market in 1973...:D

Thanks skidder-and I agree with you on everything that you had said above! There's not much I can add to that-except that I love those Sixes!

1)That is a "beautiful "(150)series Security-Six! It appears to be in NIB condition? Is it a mRDA-36(.357)or a Model RDA-86(.38 Special)which is a scarce gun?

2)Did you get the original gun box with this Security-Six?

Baldy:

Nice looking early Sixes! You are lucky to have found that fixed sight Security-Six! I have a couple of those in my collection-one has a 2.75" barrel and the other has a 4" barrel.

Security sixes, it doesn't get any better. Any idea what kind of grips are on the stainless?

Beautiful sixes! My dad a mint 1980's vintage 4" model. I truly miss that revolver. That was the gun that I learned to shoot with. And it is also responsible for my love affair with the 357 magnum. As soon as I find one that is in 95% plus condition I will be buying one.

Still have my issued one from the early 80's. Might just wear it today and give the whiz bang, polymer, wonder gun, yung'uns a history lesson. :)

It's the .357 and the story is that it was shot 6 rounds and put in a nightstand for 39 years...looks like that is probably true. Unfortunately, the box is long gone...I plan to shoot it.

Well, for the gun not having been tucked away in it's gun box the original owner(s)certainly showed that they had pride in your Security-Six via keeping it in NIB condition! You will find the gun to be an accurate shooter and one that will prove to be durable in the long term. You don't see very many 6"(150)series Security-Sixes in the market place.

Bush Pilot:

The "Zebra Wood" grips on my stainless Security-six were made by Jay Scott who has been out of business for quite a few years now.:banghead:

I think you and I have been 'round this before with these guns. I've been wearing, somewhat frequently as of late, my dad's Service Six, carried by him during a brief stint as a deputy in San Juan Colorado back in the eighties. Its serial number dates it from around 1976. It became mine when he died in 2010.
I had also worked in LE back then, in Florida, and we were not in contact during that period.

Slick6, you've got me itchin' to shoot it some!

Slick,

Those are some mighty fine shooting irons ya got there!! And an honorable mention to Baldy and his sixes. We will need a range report Slick.....

Great revolvers.

I finally completed my Ruger Six series collection recently by adding a stainless Security Six with a six inch barrel. I have a Police Service Six in blue with a four inch and a stainless speed six with a 2 3/4. Love them all, bought all used in like new condition.
