I bought a heavy barrel 6in way back when they first were available. BUT, I was in the Army and over the years, had to sell it because I was TDY and changing duty stations so much it got to be a hassle to transfer it so much. Always wanted another but a "deal" never came up till this one. Got it as partial trade a couple weeks ago and LOVE it, especially since it is 4in which I wanted in the first place but the gun shop where I bought the original one I had only had six inchers for weeks so I bought one of those back then.

And the new to me and actually 5 shots from new 340PD with CT lasers.

Thanks! It shoots great, very accurate. Fair trigger in DA and great single action trigger. The grips are an aftermarket but I don't know what kind, they were on the gun when I got it so BONUS! I'll have to ask the PO what they are. I have been told they are a Stag insert for the stock rubber grip but not sure.

Thanks, always loved the super rugged look of the GP100. As I said, I had a six inch and shot stuff out of it I thought would blow it up and never had one problem.

I prefer the 4-incher, too, but I ended up with a S&W 686 with a 6-inch barrel. It's a great gun, but I like my 4-inch Ruger Security-Six. I wish I'd kept the 4-inch 686, too, but everyone said the 6-inch was better.

Always go with what you want. The reason that store had 6-inchers laying around was because no one was buying them.

Congratulations on the GP-100. You will not be disappointed. My GP-100 is one of my favorite guns. Hope you don't mind if I post a few pictures myself.

I have two of them.
One 4" blued
One 6" SS-I keep a couple reloads for them......................:)
Don't mind the prices on those new case boxes--I had them for a while.

A Gentleman named William (Sack) Peterson makes the stag inserts shown in the previous photo. I have bought several stag grips from him and he is a first class act. Here is my SP101 with a set of his grips
