For many years I felt no interest in pocket-size handguns. However, a couple of months ago an acquaintance of mine brought a Sig Sauer P938 to the range and I had a chance to fondle and shortly test it. I got hooked. Two months later the waiting period came to its end, when my P938 Equinox crossed the Ocean and finally arrived. She was accompanied by two 6-rounds magazines and a Kydex holster.
After dissembling, cleaning and lubing the handgun, I dried fired it with a snap-cap for about 200-250 times. A few days later I managed to get to my range.
The first picture shows the result after the first 20-25 shots fired at a target at the distance of 7 yards in order to get acquainted. The shooting was done from the holster or low-ready, two hands hold. I used mixed 124 grs FMJ ammo by CCI, S&B and Geco.
The second picture shows the result of shooting at 25m (27 yards) with my home made practice brew – 124 grs EP RN bullets over 4.0 grs of Vihtavouri N320. The group, if I may call it a group, measures 10´´ by 9´´. The sides of the aiming mark are 4 cm (1.57´´).
I also tested the same bullet over 4.5 grs VN 340, but I don´t have a picture.
The third pic shows the impacts of 5 shots fired at a target at 25 m, using my handloads consisting of 135 grs polymer coated RN bullets over 3.4 grs of VN 320. I got too excited and pulled the last one.
During the test only 80 rounds were fired before it got too dark. All my shooting was done standing, using two-hands hold. I had one FTF – no. 68. It might have been caused by my holding her not firm enough.
I did not test any HP ammo. I do not own any, as it is illegal for social work in my country and even though it is available, it´s too pricey to play with. I therefore shoot my own handloads almost exclusively.
I am aware that the small sample does not say much. However, I would dare to draw a few conclusions. First, the gun is very sweet to shoot despite its small weight and size. My P938 proved it can shoot, even at a longer than a bad-breath distance. My P938 seems to show preference for heavier bullets.
For sure I would like a bit lighter trigger. I ordered a 20# hammer spring already.

Congratulations on your purchase. I've owned one for close to a year, and it's been great.

Nice gun and nice third target… you’re gonna enjoy that little baby…. I have the same gun in rosewood and blue (I’m a traditionalist ). I can carry all day iwb and forget it’s there. My trigger is a little harder then I like but am working on it….. Great little gun…. Trigger wise I am spoiled as my main squeeze is a colt off. 45 acp absolutely great trigger….. The colt is a good carry but the 938 is a real easy carry.
Enjoy, dirt
