I am going to start carrying a Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack as my EDC bag. For those of you who do not know, it has a CCW pocket. The pocket is lined with loop Velcro and Maxpedition sells a universal holster that adheres to the interior. But I do not like the holster. I want to purchase a holster and customize it with Velcro and put it in the pocket. It looks like the Uncle Mikes #4 Pocket holster will work. Will a Springfield XD40 Subcompact fit into this holster comfortably?

Assuming the uncle mike's sizing scheme matches blackhawk's, yes. I have a #4 blackhawk, and it fits most subcompact 9mm pistols, including the XD.

That being said, a custom molded holster would give you better retention, better placement in the bag, and wouldn't require an extra strap to keep the gun in the holster.
CrossBreed makes an affordable custom molded velcro-backed holster called the Ohai, I have one on order for a SA XD9sc and MrsBFD's CC purse, which has a similar pocket to the Versipack.

I have my XD40 SC in a #4. It's a nice fit. Its not much more than a dust cover, but it's good for carrying in my coat pocket without worrying about accidentally grabbing the trigger.

(old thread, i know, forgive me)
