Glad to see you back to writing. congrats on the engagement. Here's a hint for remembering your wedding date: Have it engraved on the inside of your wedding ring. Then you always have a hint with you.

Congrats Mordechai, I hope y'all have a happy marriage. Thanks for restarting the story, I like having something to read when I don't feel like staying on task and doing work.

Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Governors Hamm, and Ortiz sat across a picnic table across from Stewart Clark in Arizona. They were inside of a huge tent that had been set up by National Guard troops just 24 hours ago. Clark looked at the two middle aged men, and decided to begin. He knew that once he told these men what he had to say, he would likely be dead within the next few weeks.
The laptop was booting up, and had been connected to the portable generator outside. Solar panels outside of the tent and a couple of gas powered generators were supplying power to the electronics inside the cramped tent. Clark was oddly out of place in the tent full of military equipment, and men wearing BDUs. He looked nervously down at the computer screen, and opened the file marked "Lazarus."
"Okay." he said, blinking nervously as was his tick. "Governors. Um, I was working for Grumtech and a Chinese company named NORCBRI until a few months ago. And then, I was given an assignment. A strange assignment to say the least. I was asked to take a sample of an experimental "vaccine" to Brazil, and dump it into a water supply outside of Rio De Janeiro."
"What?" asked Ortiz.
"I was told to dump a sample of a vaccine into a water supply, well, water treatment station is more like it."
"What happened?" asked Hamm, now engrossed.
"Well, I got on a plane, landed in Rio De Janeiro. I was driven to a water treatment facility about 25 miles outside of the city, and I met a man. A Mr. Garato. I dropped the sample. Then, I got on a plane, and headed back here."
"That was it?" asked Hamm.
"Well, I did a few things there. But once I dropped the sample, I had strict orders from corporate to come back immediately."
Ortiz and Hamm looked at each other. Then, looked at their visitor once again after Hamm nodded to Ortiz. Then, Hamm nodded to an MP. The man came over, and pointed his Beretta at Clark. "You are going to be placed under arrest, sir." said the MP. "Please, submit to a search, and we'll take you into custody."
"You can't do this. I was just following orders from corporate." said the man.
"You just admitted that you are the one directly responsible for spreading a virus that might kill all of humanity." said Ortiz. "We are placing you under arrest."
"But, I know who's behind this."
"And, you'll tell us all about that. From the inside of a jail cell." said Hamm.
"No. I won't," he said. "You can't do this. You can't."
"We aren't even putting you in prison permanently. You'll get a trial. If you-"
The man looked around nervously, and stood, the Beretta still at point blank range to his temple. He looked down at the two Governors, each trying to rise. Then, at the National Guard Military Policeman.
"Look, it wasn't Grumtech. It was the Chinese. They are behind it."
"Look, we just need-" Governor Hamm began, but was cut off.
Clark tried to pull his pistol from it's holster, but it was too late. The MP had the drop on him, and placed a 9mm bullet into the man's head, spraying blood all over his face, and splattering blood onto the two Governors.
"He went for a weapon," screamed the MP, his ears ringing from the shot.
"I know." said Ortiz. "It's okay, son. You did the right thing."
Governor Hamm pulled the man's pistol out of it's holster, and put it on the table. Then, he walked outside of the tent, Ortiz following.
"You believe it? Believe the story?" asked Ortiz.
"Yeah. I do."
"Even the China part?"
"Oh, I don't know. Sounds as good as anything else I've heard." said Hamm. "I certainly would hope it's not one of our companies."
"Our companies? Anybody that would develop a zombie plague isn't 'our' company," said Ortiz, shaking his head.

The Theory

George Lincoln was fixing coffee, and making a small breakfast when Renee came downstairs. She was wearing a t-shirt and panties, and had schmutz lining her eyes, and a good sized imprint from the sheets on her face. George was exited about his theory, but knew very well not to launch into it yet. He could have. But only if Renee had come down with speed, fully dressed and her hair wet from a shower. Elsewise, she would need coffee, and a good breakfast. It was all part of the dance of marriage, knowing one's partner's paterns.
George took a good ammount of the hashbrowns he'd been making and formed a small heap of them on a plate, and rechecked the cheese omelette on the skillet. After another moment, he had the omelette neatly folded and sitting next to the small mound of potatoes. Renee poured a cup of coffee for herself, and wiped her eyes. She smiled at George, and ate a little. A few moments later, she was about half done with her coffee. And, George figured it would be okay to go ahead.
He told her about what he found, and she asked, "Well, what do you think, George?"
"I'm bettting the Chinese government screwed us. They found out about the disease, but everything they needed to know. Or they thought they could handle it and they couldn't.Think about it Renee. A Zombie Plague. There's nothing like it in history."
"That doesn't explain why." said Renee, "They would do that. Why release a disease like this into the world? The whole Wal-Mart stops to pick up Chinese goods, the trade deficit. That ends if the Chinese do what you say."
"What if we, the US were going to attempt to change that? Correct the inbalance. Or get our industrial power back?" asked George. "What if we simply decided to declare our debt to them null and void? You'd think they might try to do something."
Renee nodded. "Well, I hope we know for sure one day."

The Banker's Family

Admiral Antonelli, and General Stapleton ran out of the bunker that had housed Braff's family. With them were his wife and children. Meanwhile, Braff was waiting outside of a Blackhawk helicopter. Both the officers had M-4 assault rifles, and bags of magazines full of ammo. Braff was sitting behind an FN MAG in 7.62 NATO. He'd been given a crash course in how it worked. Although he was still very nervous about having to use it.
Stapleton and Antonelli fired their guns at approaching zombies. The backs of their heads exploding as they approached. Then, a horde of zombies appeared on the hill behind them. Looking out upon the massive throng of zombies, Braff charged the machinegun, and opened fire. The gun sent bullets out into the crowd, cutting the zombies down at the legs. Stapleton and Antonelli took shots on the fallen zombies heads while retreating towards the chopper as more zombies approached.
Braff began to nervously reload a fresh belt into the machinegun and Stapleton screamed, "Run into the back of the chopper. There should be an incendiary grenade pouch back there."
Braff stepped into the back of the chopper, and began to rummage around as the two officers fired. Meanwhile, the family jumped into the chopper. Braff came to the open door with a pouch of grenades, and the men grabbed several, pulled the pins, and hurled the grenades out onto the approaching zombies. Fire rained down on them, the whole scene looking like some sort of Sodom and Gommorah illustration. Meanwhile, the men kept up their fire.
Antonelli lifted off, and beneath the helicopter, the crowd of zombies burned from the dozen grenades tossed.

Need More...Need More!!! I don't get into fiction books, or books in general for that matter (not a good thing being in college either :banghead: ) However, this is dang good stuff and I'm officially hooked...you do know that when this story finally ends you'll have to come up with another one, don't you?:neener:

By Golly, you're right! Thanks. It's gotten hard for me to tell those two apart.
I second what Garand Owner said:
