Academy raised prices on 9mm Blazer

Bought a case (20 boxes loose) at $3.86/box of 50 last week (all they had in the store). Stopped by today to pick up some .22lr they had on sale and figured I'd get some more 9mm, unfortunately CCI Aluminum Blazer is now $4.86/box of 50 :(

If your local Academy hasn't raised prices yet, stock up now!

I thought everything was bigger, better and cost more in TX. TX ammo is still $1.00 cheaper than the same ammo here in OH. Consider yourself lucky.
 
Store manager said it was an increase from the company due to increased materials cost. Bah - he didn't like it either as he is a shooter and it's hitting him as well.
 
Seems almost everybody has raised their ammo prices....WalMart, Bass Pro, Academy.....I suppose it was inevitable.
 
It just happened here. Locally the best deal on 9mm WWB/Blazer went from $5.99 to $6.99. :eek:

Transportation costs are more than likely to blame. Ammo is heavy and expensive to ship. High fuel prices have hit the transportation industry hard over the past year and all shipping rates are going up to cover the higher fuel expenses.

That said, a 25% price increase on a box of 9mm seems a bit hard to justify.

I have heard about these crazy prices on CCI Blazer at Academy for so long that I am glad they went up. It just didn't seem fair that some people were able to buy my favorite 9mm ammo for such low prices and I couldn't. We don't any Academy stores around here so it doesn't bother me. You guys had it too good for too long. Now it is time to join the rest of us. Anyway, if I could buy ammo for $3.86 a box, I would have enough to last me 10-15 years! I would have already stocked up when I had the chance. Shame on you for thinking that that deal would always be around.
 
The sky has fallen here in Alabama too. Just got off the phone with them.

I feel like crying. :(

This is what I get for blabbing about the deal.

I'm not surprised, they had a pallet of 500 rnd cardboard boxes sititng on the floor when I went and found out the prices had been raised on Blazer.

Didn't see it in today's Houston Chron Academy Sunday flyer -- wonder if its everywhere only your location at present.

One can hope its temporary to help them sell of a "special deal" on Win USA 9mm ball.


I didn't see any price increase in .22lr so if it was shipping it'd go up too.

Oh well, if they don't suck me in for the ammo I'll be buying my jeans, shirts, shoes, underwear, mosquito repellent etc. from somewhere my wife shops. I'll likely look better if my wife buys my clothes :)

Yeah, I can't believe the near 25% increase due to transportation, materials, etc.

They're just getting smart. They know that we'll still pay 4.86/box. :(

Not everyone here is as rich as you or has the storage space to have a 15year supply of 9x19 at 3.86 a box. We're probably a lot dumber that you too I guess,you seem to know a lot:rolleyes:

I shoot about two cases of 9mm a year. That is only 30 cases in 15 years. That is $2316.00. You can't afford NOT to buy at that price!

I shoot two cases of Blazer in a month or less! I did accumulate a four month supply simply because the Academy stores around here often don't stock it very deep and I stopped in every Academy I drove by while doing our Christmas running around so I did end up better off than most folks, I'm sure.

And if you lived in Cali, you'd wish other states also banned AR15s, AKs, and greater than 10-rnd mags since your couldn't buy them?

Of course NOT! I am glad those people can't have those guns. It makes me feel better knowing that I can have something they can't. It is a good feeling to be one up on somebody.:neener:
 
That price has teased me for so long, I finally broke down and bought a 9mm pistol. Next thing you know they jack the price up. I feel sorry for you folks that think we have a good deal down here. Wal-mart still sells WWB pretty cheap, but they always seem to be out, and I'd rather shoot CCI Blazer anyday.
