I had my 3 9mm's apart tonight for cleaning they are 2 beretta 92's one stainless and one blued and a stainless taurus pt99. I got the taurus' and the stainless beretta's barrel confused and put it in the beretta. Now the beretta's take down lever won't work and I get the slide off what am I going to do? Is there any way to get the take down out of the gun like with a detail strip and get the slide off?

I think if you fiddle with it, you'll be able to get the takedown lever to work unless you hammered it into the current position. If you could turn it into the current position then it will almost certainly turn back if you get everything just right.

Try locking the slide back and then working the lever or try pulling the slide back/pushing the barrel back part of the way and then working the lever.

Maybe try locking the slide back and then wiggling the barrel around a bit while trying the lever.

You might also try locking the slide back and then trying to wiggle the recoil spring guide while trying the lever.

Ok, try this.

Open the slide a bit and put a pen or pencil in the opening between the breechface and the barrel to keep the slide open a little.

Now carefully pull on the end of the recoil spring rod until it pulls out a bit. You'll have to pull pretty hard cause the recoil spring is fighting you. When it pulls out a bit it should release some of the pressure on the takedown latch and then you should be able to turn the lever while pulling on the rod.

I know this does you no good right now,but I had a similar thing happen a few years back.In the future,remember,one at a time,assembly line fashion.Line them up,disassemble,clean,reassemble,NEXT!Sorry I couldn't help now,I don't own any Beretta pistols,Good Luck...

First dip and soak the entire thing into a jar of acetone to dissolve the heavy oil. Then dip and soak it in ethanol, to clean the acetone. Then rinse in ethanol and blow dry with nitrogen. Immediately stick it in the freezer for 20 minutes, then take it out and pull it apart.

The organic solvent cleaning will open some space by removing the grease. The low temperature in the freezer will shrink the metal a bit, opening some more space. Some guns are so tightly toleranced that this technique may help.

Good luck and let us know how it went!

All right! :p Are you talking about the trick of pulling on the recoil rod?

Cannoneer, you are aware that the new Beretta 92 pistols have some plastic parts these days...

No, you're very human for doing that. Crap happens. Just be sure to remember what you learned from this, and know that you didn't really do any damage, so why sweat it?

AAAARGH!

If there are plastic parts, do NOT soak in acetone!!!!

Acetone dissolves some plastics and swells others.

same thing applies to argentine colts/systema's

the fp in one is too long , had a friends fire on loading cause the wrong pin went in the wrong gun...:cuss:  :what:
