If I am selling a rifle to somebody several states away, do I have to have an FFL dealer in my state ship it to an FFL dealer in the buyer's state? Or can I ship it directly to the FFL dealer in the buyer's state?

You ship it directly to the FFL in the buyers state. To cover your butt, it is a good idea to get a copy of his FFL beforehand.

HK is correct, you can ship it directly to an FFL in the buyer's state of residence. Also agree on getting a copy of his FFL beforehand.

Bob, the advice you have been given is correct, but I sold a gun to a guy in Fla. once and he sent his FFL's copy. When I shipped the gun the receiveing Moron FFL said I was required to ship from a FFL. He even called the FBI for advice. I called the local ATF and he verified I was right. Had to send his name and phone number to the moron and then asked why the hell he called the FBI when he was regulated by ATF before he would accept the gun. You shouldn't have a problem just make sure the FFL copy has a BLUE ink signature! And stick to your guns!

Morons; they're everywhere! :cuss:
