Anyone had any experiences with Advantage Arms Conversion Kits for their GLOCKs? If so, which Kit did you use the LEO Version or Target Version? What ammo do you use? Have you tried shooting birdshot through it?

LEO version, runs fine but is picky about ammo. Don't use Thunderbolt, or your barrel will look like this:

CCI Minimags work just fine, but I have yet to find a cheap alternative that works. I can't get Yellow Jackets over here.

And I haven't tried birdshot.

The Thunder Bolt mishap appears to be more the result of sustained fire than the ammunition itself. I fire almost exclusively Thunder Bolts, and have seen this happen only when my daughter fires several rounds without allowing a cool down. Any non-jacketed round will do this if cool-down is not allowed.

Sounds reasonable, I didn't think of that. The trouble is, I can find time to shoot even the .22 very rarely, so when I get to the range, I want to make most of it.

How long do you let the barrel cool, Doc? do you shoot ten rounds between checking the target, or less?

Advantage Arms Glock Conversion Accuracy?

Have any of you with these kits bench rested them to see how accurate they are? I'm thinking of getting 1 or more of these (I have all 3 Glock frame sizes) but, like Townsen Wheelen said "Only accurate guns are interesting".

Are the "Target" kits mechanically different than/more accurate than the "LE" version?

Is the "Target" slide any lighter than the "LE" 17/22 slide?

Can you change the magazine floorplates to add a finger extension on the mags for the G26 AA kit?

Any information/experience anyone here has with these, I would like to hear about.

I have the "LE" version, and am very satisfied.

I usually shoot whatever Walmart has in bulk, so long as it is copper plated.

As long as you keep it lubed and occasionally clean the barrel it is relaible.

Accuracy is good, not a match pistol, but good enough.

Get about 4 to 6 magazines, you will want them.;)

How fast you can shoot and not melt lead, depends on ambient temperature. On cold days fire away! On hot days, wait for it to cool. How long? Depends on the temperature.

Just an FYI,

I just called Advantage Arms to order a 17-22 Target. The Target model Glock Conversions have been permanently dropped from production.

So I ordered a 17-22 LE instead.

Theoretically, the lighter slide of the Target model should have made it less ammo sensitive. But Advantage Arms said it accounted for less than 4% of sales so they dropped it.

Looking for a Target Model Advantage Arms Glock Conversion Kit

Since the Target model AA kits proved unpopular, I'll do a couple of list members a favor and buy their AA Target Model 17-22 or 19-23.

If you have either a 17-22 or 19-23 Advantage Arms Target Model that you would like to sell, please email or IM me.

If you know any distributors that still have a Target Model in stock, please post or email or IM me the name and phone number of the distributor.
