ok guys, ive decided to order a couple of k-31 swiss's from samco. my question is which grade is the best one to order and is the walnut stock worth the extra $20? i need to hurry up and get this order in before i decide to throw one of them persian or swedish mausers onto my order. hmmmm, those yugo sks's are lookin really good to.:D

Have you checked AIM surplus? They're $99.95 or $89.95 for 2 or more, and the walnut stocks are only $10 additional. I just got one, and was happy with how it looked, but I don't know what the official grade would be. They have a hand picked option, but I didn't do that, since all of them supposedly have great bores.

Anyway, I think the walnut is worth it. As far as the grade, I buy guns as shooters and don't mind a bit of character, so the very good would probably be my pick. YMMV.

I just got 5 from AIM to get the discount. They were all roughly equal, I was not disappointed with any of them.

im buyin the gun to shoot also, but i do like my guns to look good meaning no pits or beat up edges. ive heard that aim puts their import markings right on top of the reciever across the swiss cross. if thats the case i dont want anything to do with it. thanks fer the replies fellas.

The one I have from AIM does not have the new info across the crest. It is on the side right by where the original information was. The crest is crisp and beautiful.

thanks for the confirmation aguyindallas. i had just read that somewhere and wasnt certain bout the validity.

Is anyone finding the owner tag under the butt plate or are there scavengers grabbing them?

Of the 5 I just got from AIM, 3 had the tags.

I sold 4 of them. I kept the "best" one but that's a stretch. They were all in almost identical condition.

I got a K-31 with an owner tag. I sent it out to the gunsmith for some work. Geez, I hope it's still there when I get it back, now that I think about it.

That's a great idea! Heck, it's cheap anyway. Now, you got backups and can even use one or a couple for parts in the future when parts become harder to come by.

Very happy with my K31 from AIM. The blueing is in real good shape and the stock, although dirty,is also in very good shape.Might have to go pick up another one!

jagd,
What kind of paperwork do you need to have with you when you go to the AIM store in person in order to purchase firearms? Do you need an FFL or C&R? I've been thinking of making the drive down there to take a look.

I ordered a K31 from AIM. I got the Walnut option and like it a lot. I did not get the "hand pick" option nor do I recommend it. I do recommend getting the muzzle cap and sling if you can. AIM was only charging $10 for them and I have seen them for more.

I got some pretty dang good groups last weekend with mine (for me at least).

AIM Surplus also has very good prices on the GP-11 ammo in either the 60 round sleeves or the 500 round case.

Q-lock, all you need is an Ohio drivers license. There really isn't much to look at,other than a small case of pistols at the counter. You just tell them what you want and they bring the rifles, etc. to the counter for you to inspect. Ammo they bring out to you from a side door. Can't really recommend them enough. Almost forgot, they do charge a 15.00 "background check" fee. But it's per visit not per rifle. No fee per ammo. Check'em out!!

I just kept the best and sold the others off at no profit. That's OK to do with a C&R since it's not "doing business' I figured one would be better than the others, but they really were all pretty nice.
