Aguila Ammo

Only their 22LR offerings and to say I was surprised at the quality and accuracy of the stuff is an understatement. They make a wide variety of .22LR to fit almost anyone's requirements. I'm partial to their subsonic offerings. Here's a link to a place that sells it online that also shows the various velocities available.

Good 22LR - I will be buying it again.

One of my carry guns is a KT 380. It will run any ammo for at least 3 mags, then will start having failure to extracts (chamber gets dirty). Aguila is the only ammo that it will run a full box of 50 rounds with no probs. You can tell they're a little hotter and they appearently seal the case against the chamber better because of that.

The reason I ask is because I found what seems to be a good deal on this stuff in .45ACP. 1,000 rounds for $199.00 (and) thats even delivered. Cheaper even than Wally-Worlds WWB!

I have never heard any first hand experience regarding this brand.
Just curious if it would be worth the $200?!

$10 total a box sounds pretty good.

I've use several different calibers of Aguila and didn't find any that I didn't think wasn't as good as any "name brand".

Bigred, Is that a one time deal for only you or can other people buy that 1000 round case as well? I've used the aguila before and would buy some more.

Was shooting some of the SuperMaximum .22, and it felt like it was making Stingers feel like BBs. Guy in the range office said it sounded more like a .38.

Of course, it isn't. BUT --- this is an indoor range, and you can see the pitch-out at the base of the backstop. The little "explosions" down there tell you some things. Like: normally, .45 ball just hits the back, and whaps into the pile at the bottom. Put +P in, and you get to see a little geyser.

With the Aguilas, the pitchout looked like we were shooting straight at it.

I don't know (yat) what this stuff chronos at (haven't broken out the Chrony yet) in a 6-7/8" MkIII or a Kimber conversion, but it is hellacious.

I've shot this stuff back-to-back with Federal Gold and some subsonic stuff --- it is interesting to actually have "felt recoil" in a heavy gun like a MkIII.

Little bitty 30-grain bullet, probably moving at 1600.

Wow! If that is for the IQ line, that is a good deal indeed. They shoot just fine operationally but supposedly (I haven't tested them myself this way) are some of the best defense rounds around. Can I ask where you found them?

I just bought a case of the .22 standard velocity. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I am told it is very accurate. I think it was $130 delivered from Cole Distributing.

I consider their rimfire as the premier, top of the line, in rimfire. they have both the slowest rounds(colibri's) to the very fastest (hypervelocity) which is faster than stingers. from the lightest, 20 grains, to the heaviest, 60 grains. Also they have all the 17 ammo plus 17 aguila, which I totally love.

I can't get any of my .22s to shoot well with any of Aquila's rimfire products.

Good stuff, I've found it hard to buy online lately (.22 aside). The places with good deals are out of stock.

If you can pass along who's got it for $199 delivered, it would be appreciated I'm sure.

I have had pretty good results with the SSS 60 grain .22 LR loads in all of my rimfire guns, rifles, pistols and revolvers. I have anecdotal evidence that they will kill a small whitetail dead as fried chicken.

The .22 Super Colibri are kind of fun.

I have used the .32 FMJs in my NAA Guardian and .380's in my P3AT, no problem- accuracy as good as Remington or Winchester FMJs.

However, .38 wadcutters were not all that great in my "baby" S&W K-38.

.45 IQ's wreaked havoc upon innocent Pecos cantalopes.

Thumbs Up!

When it was available, I carried their .38 spl JHP 158 gr - they rated it at 900 fps and judging from the felt recoil, that was about right. :D I've shot their 158 gr JHP .357 round as well, and it was nice and controllable - sort of like a bargain basement Golden Sabe. But I can't seem to find either very easily. AIM surplus used to have cases of both and then it dissappears :uhoh: . If I can find another supplier at a reasonable price, i'll stock up again. For $6/box of 50 (in .38) and $ 8 box/50 (in .357) the price was sure right.

But I love plinking with ther hypervolcity .22 LR stuff - my Beretta Cheetah eats round after round with NO problems. The nice orange ball at the muzzle and some felt recoil makes it feel like you are using a serious round, not a fun .22

You can find it at http//www.centerfiresystems.com

Now im not to sure about the shipping though. I was on my way to purchashing a couple thousands rounds and noticed before I hit "pay" it says something to the effect of "Actual Shipping Charges Will Be Applied When Your Order Is Processed Through Centerfire Systems"

So I plan on finding out the "actual shipping costs" BEFORE I give them my CC number!

Can you even get Wolf steel cased stuff for this price?

I've tried the SSS (only accurate in my 1956 Marlin 39A Mountie), Colibri and Super Colibri (very handy and usually accurate enough at effective ranges), and the .32 S&W (pretty good, also within effective range). Fair prices usually.

Come to think about it, I don't recall trying any of their subsonic stuff. Just the standard, target/match, and hypervelocity stuff.

Platforms include

Ruger Mk II (did not try them on the Great Eight), various 10/22s (modded and unmodded)
Browning Buckmarks (Standard, Unlimited, Bullseye)
Marlin 15YN, 25N
Anschütz 1451D, 54:18 MSR, 2013/690-2313
Hämmerli 160, 280
Walther P22 (not really expecting tight groups here)
Benelli MP90S
CZ 452 (Scout, Varmint, American)
Kimber 82G
