There are number of UK shooters on this forum and I was just wondering what you got and how you use it?

I'm mainly looking for things that are
A. 'interesting', you know, stuff that does it's upmost to upset the law but remain legal:evil:

or

B. just different.

Marlin 1894 .375 magnum. Not really 'out there' but it's a pistol caliber weapon, and they banned pistols so I suppose I'm a bit of a rebel.

Remington M1100 practical shotgun with 9 round magazine. Great for clays and PSG, probably the closest thing to an 'evil assault weapon' you can get here (well, I suppose you could get an USAS with a drum mag or something).

Straight-pull AR15. An AR15 that is operated by pulling the charging handle manually. Again, not a whole lot different to a regular bolt-action rifle, but it looks evil I suppose.

Ruger Old Army. It's a pistol, but since it's muzzle loading, it's legal.

I don't have one, but plenty of people have Ruger .375 long barreled revolvers. Basically the barrel is just long enough so that it's not classes as a handgun in law and is therefore not illegal.

There's also some German rifle, I forget the name. Pump action rifles (not shotguns) are illegal, but because of the definition in law, this one is legal due to the fact that you don't pump the fore-end, you pump the pistol grip itself. It's also bull pup, so is extra-evil.

Plenty of .50 caliber and .338 lapua shooters with all manner of very large guns.

Probably the most ingenius invention to get around the law I've seen is still in development. It's an MP5 clone that ejects the empty case like an ordinary one, but locks the bolt in the rearward position. You then just flick a switch, positioined a little like a selector switch, to let the bolt move forward and load the next cartridge. Because it requires an input by the user to load the next round, it is not self-loading, and thus legal, but wouldn't have a rate of fire much less than a semi-auto MP5.

Want one!!

Sounds like a better idea than the straight-pull Enfield manufactered MP5's from around 3-4 years ago.

I've a browning buckmark semi-auto pistol, a .44mag pistol and .22 Freedom Arms mini revolver. All of which create quite a stir on the range:D

:what: DROOLS :what:

That is something that I need, oh so desperately! :D

Semi-semi-automatic?

I would put that lever inside the trigger guard in front of the trigger, you would move it forward with the back of your trigger finger to load the next round

I understand that the .22 LR AR15's are popular in the UK as well.

Yep, V22's are around but 10/22's rule the roost at the moment, a friend of mine is trying to develop an AR that uses 10/22 mags but it keeps locking up.

AR clone of a cheaper nature are around as well as Olympic Arms.

I personally want the new R22 SD version:evil:

i only own 2 air rifles but i shoot SA 80's with the CCF (combined cadet force) in this we use a mixture of L98's which are converted from the L85A1's. they are a streight pull and they are alright but get a little boring after a while. There is also a L98 conversion kit which can be fitted just by stripping the rifle and adding the new parts. these are semi auto and not bad at all. we also get to use L86A1/2 lsw's if we are lucky but they are total rubbish. block all the time with blanks, but they are a blast with lives. full auto and all. then we also get to use gimpys (FN MAG) if we are very lucky but never live and this is only because our rsm was in the paras and has good connections.

You sound just like me 17 years ago:D
But we also got to use 9mm sterlings, 9mm Browning Hi-powers and 7.62SLR's:)

I think they were a bit more flexible with cadets back then.

yeh its true. until recently we wernt alowed to use any kind of self loading rifles. its sereously bad. now with all the lsw's in iraq we hardly ever get them. as for pistols and sub guns no chance ever. o well i enjoy it :D

nadeem

I dunno, a friend of mine's son is in the ACF and he got use a SAW last month:what:

He didn't hold it right though on full-auto and the bruising lasted 3 weeks:evil:

I can remember using a GPMG on full-auto with no hearing protection, that was fun but I was deaf for quite some time afterwards. I can also remember picking up the spent links and cases, making up a new belt, stringing it across my webbing trying to look cool and getting a complete 'roasting' from the base NCO's!! something to do with not being able to have munitions on your persons:confused:

Fosbery,

if your still out there, you mentioned you've got a Ruger Old Army, do you run it on BP and if so, you couldn't give me the dimensions for your BP storage box could you, as I'm trying to make my own at the moment and I'm not completely sure how big it supposed to be?

Cheers.

He names three handguns, all of which should be illegal. So either they all have extra long custom barrels (expensive? and I've never heard of a Freedom Arms mini with a 12 inch barrel!), are for humane slaughtering of animals (a Freedom Arms mini?), were made before 1919 (Buckmarks before 1919?), are of historic importance or exceptional beauty (beautiful Buckmarks?) or he's an RFD (registered firearms dealer) and thus allowed to have such things (however, in this case he wouldn't be shooting them at the range as he says).

So I'm stumped basically.

Btw, just thought of another good one. The Mateba carbine. It's a revolver so it's not counted as 'self-loading' and is therefore legal. Was looking into getting myself one but I never got round to it, might have to have another look for one.

Let me un-stump you,

.22 Freedom Arms with spare cylinder

It's percussion, I run it on 1grn of Bullseye, one of only 2000 made world wide, NAA make a copy of it, but this is the original Dick Casull version:D

All of the above are UK legal on Section 1 FAC.

A friend of mine has one in .357mag very nice, but now very rare as Mateba seem to have gone belly-up. I like it because you can detach part of the stock and use it as a pistol as well. I've looked into getting one in .44mag, infact I know someone that's selling one (for alot of ££££) but my local gunsmith put me off saying the spares are "no-more". If you want I can PM you his details, he's already sent me pic's of the stuff he has for sale, if you want see some really far-out UK spec guns I'll post them here:)

There you go,

You just can't have too many toys:D :D :D

Wow, very nice.

Thanks,

As I said above, the second post of pics aren't mine but they are for sale:D
He also had a carbon barrelled ruger redhawk in .44mag that I would have liked but my gun-fund had run a little dry at the time:mad:

You mentioned you have a Remy M1100?
I'm borrowing an 11 shot version on sunday to do a round of clays with to see if I like it, should be fun:evil:

Edit:
The 11 shot wouldn't function with 28grm cartridges??
went with a 3 shot version that was great and a 5 shot savage pump:evil:
You get some really strange looks shooting a round of clay with a pump gun:D
