I am new to the whole Ak thing. I am looking at purchasing a used egyptian Ak-47 with a single stack mag, with a mill available how hard would it be to convert it to take standard Ak mags? and would it be leagal? If so would 250$ be a decent price?
Converting it would (or should) be fairly easy. Legalitiy is another thing. I am no lawyer, but I would assume you could get enough US made parts to get it 922 compliant if that is an issue. If the price is good, I would buy it no matter what, and research it later.
If you have access to a mill then it should be quick and easy (use a drum or poly mag for measurements if you want to be able to use one as they tend to be larger). To legally convert it I am fairly sure you must swap parts and make it 922r compliant (check out Saiga 12 forum for details). And at $250.00 I would buy it.
