While cleaning the armory this weekend, I noticed that a large quanity of magazines were no where to be found. Apparently a "friend" who was going through some tough personal times and who I let stay at my place for a while, took several dozen magazines of mine to the pawn shoppe.

I am missing at least three dozen AK mags (including those nifty 20 rounders from Hungary), 20 or so brand new Les Baer pistol mags, AR mags, G3 mags and 10 or so 635 mags (which I have learned are getting very pricey). Don't do anyone any favors. Unbelievable.

Anyone know where I can get some replacement AK mags? TIA.

i would like to offer a suggestion and advise that I would take in your predicament, i would get a duffle bag and fill it with all the mags i had and various other objects and i would cominse to beating the crap out of that guy! some friend, i am sorry to hear that, i hate it when bad things happen to good people. and what reall sucks is that he problly has no idea what they were and the value of them were and probally got near nothing for them.:banghead: i would say www.sportsmansguide.com they have 20rd -40rd, and some drums i do believe, but they also have the polymer mags if you are into them. i have the 30rd mag that came with my mak-90, and 4 40rd mags i bought from www.natchezss.com for $16.?? a piece a while back. check there to the have all kinds of mags and every once in a while you will find a deal, the 40rd mags were normally $49.99 a piece but if i bought 3 or more they were $16.?? a piece, so i bought 4 to keep it even, wish i had more now!

K-var.com or RSR (if you have a friendly dealer nearby) are good sources for NIB Bulgarian mags. I haven't had any problems with those, unlike some Russian ones I bought that would not lock into my SLR-105.

I hear these guys sell some of the best AR mags.

I had a link for a guy selling 5.45 mag 4-packs. I guess it is on my home computer.

CDNN, Sportsman's Guide, K-Var, and others sell 7.62 AK mags. CDNN used to have the 4 packs. Tapco usually has them as well. You just have to shop around for the best price. Usually, someone has them on sale for new or used.

I'm not sure what I'm more amazed by: that a "friend" would think to hit a man below below the belt and steal his magazines, or that you had "three dozen AK mags."

Holy sh--! Three dozen AK mags? Were you getting ready to re-take Grozny street by street?? Impressive!

Check out:

http://www.ammunitionstore.com/

At one point they had surplus 30 round mags for $7.95, but now the price went up slightly. They also used to have 40 round mags for $11.99.

However, I do think sportsmanguide offers 30 round mag for $6.66 a piece if you are interested in buying them bulk (12 at a time). That might be your best bet.

Did you confront your "friend"? Sounds like he needs some payback ASAFP. Either sugar in his gas tank or:

Thats an OK start, but not even all that impressive even for a single order. Sounds to me like you need to hang with a different crowd... :neener:

El Tejon, PM me your address and I'll send you a couple.

possum, believe me that thought crossed my mind when I realized what happened, "hey, I've got more mags than this!"

However, 1. that would be a crime, 2. he is a very old friend from undergrad who is going through a terrible time. The damage inflicted on him by her and her attorney beats anything I could do.:D

The 635 mags are the ones that really hurt.

this "friend" needs multiple dope slaps. Remember the idiom "no good deed goed unpunished'
BTW sugar in the gas tank doesn't work sugar won't dissolve in gas Mythbusters did this and the engine ran like a dollar watch

Before you mention it to and/or accuse your friend (and spend money), are you sure that your garage/basement did not just eat them? If that had happened to me, it would not be the first time I lost something only to find it months later, sitting quietly in a mislabeled box.

Damn, so that's where the mags went :(

Thank God he didn't have access to the safe...

I've kept my gun room locked and friends and family don't get free run. I've
never had reason to suspect them of ever trying to steal anything but they've
also never had the opportunity either.

A few people know generally what I have stashed and where it is. No one has access to them when I'm not around.

The guy is not your friend. He is a thief. If he needed money he could have asked to borrow some rather than stealing your property. I would have him tell you what pawn shop it was and go tell them they have received stolen property. What ever his wife is doing to him.....sounds like he probably deserves it. If this is how he treats his friend, I can just imagine what he did to her. I'd hit him with the "hammers of hell' myself. No patience with thieves or pity. :fire:
