I just purchased my first gun with an alloy frame. Its a CZ 2075. I like the gun, it shoots and conceals well. Immediately after getting the gun home, I cleaned it and lubed it really well. Then i took it out and shot about 200 rounds through it. I then took it apart to clean it, and i noticed that on both sides of the rail, in the same general area, there was some bad wear. The paint had been scraped off and some metal was also removed. There were basically small chunks coming out of the frame. I could see little flakes of aluminum near the rear of the frame. Is it normal for an alloy framed gun to do this? I've never had one and dont really know if this is to be expected.

It may be that the slide knocked off a high spot or burr on a frame rail and further wear will be self limiting. Also, what kind of lubrication do you use? Most pistols with full-contact frame rails do better with a light grease, whether a weapon-specific grease or even plain old automotive white lithium. This goes even more for alloy guns as the frame is obviously softer than the steel slide.

If you have any issues with that CZ 2075 RAMI, call 1-800-955-4486, press for gunsmith, and ask Mike about it, Mon-Fri, 9-4, Kansas City time. if there is actual metal being shaved off, I'd see what they have to say - can you take/post pictures?
I did take pics and sent them to CZ. At first the customer service guy told me it was normal. But i insisted that it was metal coming off and not paint. A few days later he told me he talked to the gunsmith and he said to send it in. I just wanted to make sure this wasnt normal before i send it in. I dont want to be without a carry gun for half the summer. My only other 9mm is a s&w 5906 and thats a bit of a nuisance to carry.

I agree, if that's metal shaving off, that's highly unusual. My wife's 2075 RAMI has a few thousand rounds through it with no wear like that.

Hummm...My Kimber UCC II has over 3000 rounds through it. The aluminum alloy frame just shows shinny areas, but no appreciable wear.
