Can I get some recommendations on the best defense ammo and the cheapest and best plinking ammo for .45 ACP?

I found a site where I can get Wolf .45 1000 rounds for 148.95. Is that a good price? I think the ammo is pretty good I fired off a box of it today with no problem, and while cleaning my pistol it didn't seem too dirty.

Defensive ammo for my .45, I havn't really looked into yet.

I personally don't like the Wolf ammo. Speer Lawman or Federal American Eagle TMJ is what I usually practice with. Speer GDHP is about the best defensive ammo, but honestly, since defense depends more on bullet placement than on expansion, I wouldn't feel under protected using the ball ammo.

I like Federal hydra shok 230 grain 45acp non plus p ammo in my defensive .45acp firearms. As for plinking ammo shop around, and especially if you don't reload see if you can find a deal on CCI blazer aluminum cased ammo. Some guns may not like it but most work fine.

$149/1000 is a pretty good price for Wolf these days. I've been getting boxer brass cased Aguila or Fiocchi for $190/1000. Since once-fired brass is easily worth $30-50/1000 at gun shows, your price for Wolf is about as high as I'd go. I've shot lots of it (~12,000 rounds) when I could get it for $120/1000 or less.

WWB (and save the brass for when you reload it:) ) for plinking

Speer Gold Dots 230gr Defensive.

But both cycle well for me.
