Ammo Shortage??

the gun shop guy said he's not selling AK's as there is a shortage of 762 x 39.
Really? is there a shortage where you are?
He also said a shortage of .223 is going to happen soon?!

Yep. 7.62x39 and M193 5.56 are pretty much unavailable right now. There's a little Wolf x39 available now and then. Commercial .223 and M855 are still around for now.

Buy it when it's cheap and stock up for the drought. You snooze, you lose.

well there goes my plan for buying an AK!
I guess I will have to go with a 308 and plink with a 22lr
 
apparently yes since the folks at aimsurplus no longer have any and everywhere else the price has gone up.

But word on the street is there is a huge shipment of 7.62x32 in customs just waiting to be brought in. So we shall see.

Where's it all going? I thought nothing in the US inventory used the "commie round", just 7.62x51 NATO? Is that not the case? :scrutiny:
 
Possibly going to the Iraqi military? Don't know, just a thought. I imagine they are using quite a bit of 7.62x39 in those AKs of theirs.
 
Just procured near 1,000 rounds, half on stripper clips, for $125 :D

Nothing to shoot them with now, but I'm in hoarding mode when it comes to x39.

Um, no it ain't. Look at my location. No UPS or USPS ammo delivery here, so all those websites with the big bargains are TOTALLY WORTHLESS to me. Blame Canada. It has to come by barge by the pallet or you have to make it yourself.

I guess that makes it hard to put down the Deep Ones, too...

I sent them an email too last week, they didn't say why. They did say that some more should be available by the end of the month.

Where do you find it that cheap?

At local gun shows it's $140/1,000 rounds.

Well on the plus side there are a number of ammo shops in town that keep a pretty good stock. It just costs more than in the lower 48.

But I'm *ALWAYS* ready for the Cthulhoid horrors :D
