Ruger Mark III. I have one on the way and so I thought I would search what the best ammo is and I found out that it does NOT like Thunderbolts and of course I have two bricks. My Marlin 25N rifle loves it.
Anyway some of the best suggestions Ive seen is CCI standard velocity, Aguila but Im not exactly sure which one.
Any suggestion ?

MiniMags are always a good choice. However, with the current ammo situation, you might be left with fewer choices. Winchester M2's, Federal Automatch and Blazers all work great in mine.

Anything without the wax that's on a lot of bulk-pack ammo - CCI stuff in the slide-cover plastic boxes is always top-tier in my experience.

Avoid Federal gold match and anything by Winchester. The suck factor for this garbage is 9 out of 10 in 2 SR22, 2 MKIII's 1 Buckmark and 1 Sig1911-22.

SV (which I doubt you find) and mini mag are top shelf.... Always. Remington GB's is very consistent as well as Blazer. Haven't had any federal bulk in a while but a year ago I would rate it passable.

Nothing is worse than Winchester. Seriously. Nothing.

My Mk-II has seen 12-13 thousand rounds of CCI MiniMags over nearly three decades. Never a malfunction.

It's seen maybe ten percent of that number of Winchester Super-X stuff, and has about a 10-15 percent failure rate (usually a FTE.)

I have recently come into 660 rounds of Federal Champion stuff, but have not yet tried it. It's supposedly rated (in velocity) between the two loads above.

Avoiding all Winchester ammo is bad advice.

As an example, my Mark II likes Super X HV.

All guns are different and the only way to determine what yours likes is to shoot it.

Agreed. My wife's 22/45 eats T-22 all day long.

Thanks for all the help.
I will take your advice and just start shooting. I will also keep an eye out on my bore. I will clean if I need to and then change ammo if need be.
CCI does seem to be pretty popular.

My Mk.II does very well, both in terms of accuracy and reliability, with CCI MiniMags and Wolf Match Target.

You absolutely cannot determine that without shooting them in YOUR gun. Rimfires will always show a preference for some loads and choke on others. Or you'll get lucky and it will do well with everything. Your MKIII may very well thrive on loads another MKIII chokes on. For some reason, it's difficult to get folks to understand this. They try one load in one gun and if it doesn't like it, they judge the load to be garbage. Rather than what it is, individual preference.

You just have to try them all to find what it likes and there's no way around it.

All CCI .22LR ammo has a wax-based lube. As does most .22LR ammo.

My Mk III 22/45 runs real well on anything but Remington ammo. CCI Minimags and Federal Automatch seem to be the best, though.

Yup. I don't have a MKIII, but I have a few MKIIs, and they all love CCI Mini Mags. They don't like the bulk pack Federals as much. Part of this is the actual shape of the rim. Look closely sometime at the profile of the rim on rimfire ammo. CCI has a semicircular profile, Federals have a profile with a bit of a chamfer to it. My experience is that the chamfer on the Federals tends to deaden the firing pin blow slightly, so I get more misfires with the Federals. I never get misfires with CCI.

Of course today, shoot what ever you can find.

I must be lucky. I have 4 MKII guns. They feed/fire bulk Federal great. It is mostly what I use. Luckily, I bought several cases a couple of years ago.

My MKII eats everything. Thunderbolts are just dirty and a bit more time needs to be spent cleaning afterwards. Like any .22 it may be picky when it's new, but after 15k+ rounds mine doesn't care what I throw in it.
