Well for the folks that can't seem to find anything lately I have a bit of news. I was in academy today (spartanburg sc store) and they had a quiet large amount of ammo in. I was like wow ****s finally catching up. Looked on shelf didn't see any 7.62 x 39mm asked some dude working there. Found out it was moved behind the counter. Went to counter waited for guy to help out another guy then he asked me what I needed I asked for 5 boxes of monarch 20 rd boxes. He said can't sell ya but 4 boxes we got a limit on it. I was like *** :cuss: Took my 4 boxes and checked out. Apparently that's how they are keeping up. Put it in my car and went back and got 4 more. :neener:

Wondering if anyone else is running into bull**** like this. I can sorta see it if they are almost out, but they still had a couple cases worth.

Many stores are limiting sales so that the first guy there doesn't buy up the entire inventory which has been happening and sparking complaints. The supply and demand situation should sort itself out with time..

You may also want to work on being able to express yourself without resulting to vulgarities.

All of the Wally's around here are completely out of handgun ammo. If they get it in - they sell out within a couple hours. They have a five box limit, and it still sells out like mad.

22 bulk packs are also like hen's teeth. 223 can be found, but not at a decent price.

doesn't matter if they have it or not, its still way to expensive.

Yes but if it's in stock and not selling, the prices will have to come down.

In stock and not selling is a good thing, that means the panic is subsiding and real pricing should be coming back online.

I can attest to $24/50 for .40s&w...what a joke! was $17 a month ago (when you could find it)

I don't see why its Bull$#it to protect the casual shooters from the horders.

They may have had cases left but it only takes one person in front of you to buy all 10 cases.

Some actual numbers...........

Ordered a 500 round brick of 7.62x39 from an online supplier Saturday.

Came home from work today, logged in, to find UPS tracking number for said brick.

Used to buy Wolf locally for $5.99/box.

But the local shelves have been bare for 90 days now.

This stuff (same Wolf 124 gr.) cost me $7.60/box.

So a 27% increase from six months ago.

Not an unusual swing for a significant shortage in a commodity market.

So there you go, above is realtime for my neck of the woods.

The sky is not falling, but it is gd expensive.

I make a quick trip to sporting section a Walmart everytime I happen to get there. Always empty shelves, but, the last three times I have met a fellow gun owner starring at the empty shelves. Had some interesting conversations so the trip was worth it.

Winchester is reporting they are 200,000 million rounds backordered on 45 ACP, they produce 1.6 million rounds/day, puts them 120 days behind. The same machine produces 380 ACP, they can't shut down the machine to produce 380, so there is no 380, lol. This was on nra.org today, but since they've updated, its not there anymore.

I found myself in Walmart today, so I swung by the ammo counter for some Mini-mags. A gentleman was counting out his $741.07 for every box of Blazer .40 FMJ in the store. For some reason he seemed embarrassed, spouting nervous chatter to justify his big purchase.

Is that a sign that panic purchases may be on the decline?

If Academy is rationing ammo, why in the world would you think supply is keeping up with demand???

When supply matches demand, you don't have to ration anything.

Something is wrong with your numbers, or math, or both. 200,000 million? That is 200 Billion, right?

Well I ran into 2000 rounds of WWB 45 acp at Walmart today. I bought it all and split it with two shooting buddies. Hope that's a good sign, haven't seen 45 acp at a Walmart in a month and I usually go about 4 times a week. Ammunitiontogo had NO 45 acp last I checked (last night).

For future reference, remember the retailers that took advantage of us.

Prices legitimately went up, but that did not justify screwing your customers.

When ammo availability gets better, remember who took advantage, and who did not.

That is when we have the power again. Of course many folks will be able to rationalize this away.

Go figure.

hey... havent you heard...or rather been told? IT IS CAPITALISM.... all capitalism... the wonderful world we live in when taking advantage of people is justifiable.... BS!!!!!

I picked up 3 boxes of Blazer Brass .45 ACP this evening for $14.97 each @ Wal-mart. I'm going back tomorrow to get some more, if there's any left. I haven't seen any in there in a long time.

It's good to know there is some supply being issued forth.

As for the retailers, they're only

1) "screwing" those who choose to buy; and
2) trying to use pricing to keep some ammo on their shelves, for those who will freely and happily pay the inflated price.

We're free to buy, own, and shoot the ammo - or decide not to. The seller is likewise free to sell it in the manner he sees fit - or not at all.

I'm just sad to have invested serious $$ in a really nice reloading setup, only to have been extremely busied with a number of other things and then come back to find that even ammunition components have been rather well bought out.

That is exactly my point. I hope to visit upon those who chose their manner of taking advantage of the situation now, the exact same upon them later. Or as once stated in Scripture:

"May you reap what you sow."

I wish on those that over charge us now, at a higher margin than they did when things were not so acute, by my standards, the response they so desperately want when things get better for we patrons. No more, no less. After all, my standards are the only standards that matter to me.

And that is my choice too. As it is yours.

Go figure.
