AmSec 7250 or Sturdy

That picture of the inside of the Sturdy safe is accurate. It's plain gray steel with dark gray 'capreting.'

For the price, I'm 100% satisfied in the product and customer service. I don't say that lightly and rarely say that about any companies I deal with. Sturdy has been outstanding and thankfully I've never had a need for it (fire/break in) but I'm confident in the product.

I agree with everything leadcounsel said including an earlier comment of his when he said "Terry is the Man".

There was a post I read from someone who's house completely burned down and once it was re-built, Sturdy sent him a new safe.

Here is a photo of my own Sturdy without fire lining. I added the "interior option 3" which provides a center support brace to give more flexibility with shelf arrangement and a load rating of 150Lbs per shelf. As you can see, I loaded up a shelf with 12ga shells.

I know I shouldn't have my shells and guns together but I've been holding off on my gun vault till I build next summer so they are together for the moment (most of those shells are gone now though.)

And the beautiful interior of the AMSEC BF series fresh off the truck.

I can't speak for the price of the AMSEC BF. But the Sturdy 36"W, 27"D, 60"H looks to be going for $1798 without fire lining on their website. Add $600 for the fire lining and $100 for the center support option I have on mine.

The center support is the shelf brace you see holding the left side of the shelves in my photo. Normally Sturdy just has the shelves hang off the inside of the safe as in the photo that a1abdj posted. I can't remember what the shelves can hold for weight while hanging off the side but it still pretty high I just tend to go for whatever gives me more flexibility and as much capacity as I can get.

Should not the safe come with shelves that can hold items---

No the safe comes with really nice shelves standard. I'm trying to recall their rating but it is something like 70 or 80 Lbs each. The option I chose allows 150Lbs of load on each shelve which is overkill. Longer term I have other plans for this gun safe and I wanted a high capacity on the shelf rating so that's why I chose that option.

Nice lighting.

You don't need to worry about the Sturdy shelves, the top one holds over 100lbs. My liberty's top shelve was buckling with half the ammo that my Sturdy handle with ease.

Keizer - Did you consider the AmSec installed lighting?

No, I figured you are just paying more to have them put a kit together for you. Plus I love DIY projects.

So back to response 24. If you hold fire & burglary protection at a tie & AmSec with the interior advantage then it comes down to warranty & service.
We can discuss here or on Frank's new thread on safe warranties.

To get an idea of the size of AMSEC's network go to their dealer locater and do a search in your area.

Granted, I'm outside of a major metro area, but a search of my zip code shows 8 dealers in a 50 mile radius. 7 of those dealers are actual safe companies (myself included) who are capable of full product support. The dealer who isn't is a sporting goods store.

Ten companies within 50 miles of me, and I live in a tiny little town.

The Sturdy shelves will hold more weight then you're ever likely to put on them.

Interior 1
5 shelfs available for the 6 foot safes. They they hold about 150 lb. each.

Interior 2, which is the one I got.

1 top shelf that holds about 150 lb., 1 gun rack and 1 side shelf that can hold 150 lb. and 2 bottom side shelves that hold up to 40lb each.

Interior 3
The side shelves will also hold more weight than the #2 interior (about 150lb. each)

As for warranties being able to talk to the owner/builder of the company is a huge plus to me. As you have seen he's more then happy to spend as much time as needed to take care of you. And as many other people have mentioned their customer service is second to none.

For example there was a mix up regarding one of the options I ordered. They offered to refund money back to me that was greater then the cost of the option (almost double.) I told them it was too much, that they should just refund the appriopriate amount. However, they insisted and credited me the greater amount.

I have never experienced that kind of commitment to a customer's satisfaction from any other company. It was totally above, and beyond, what was needed.

Ok----i see now 150lbs(must be strong hinges)sounds great, i also just took a look at the bf-6032(web) and i see there is a dealer in the area but i see no price-----btn did you check with them already---there seem to be around eight of them

BiggBay,about the pricing.
When I ordered my BF 66x36 last October the price difference between the Amsec and Sturdy of the equivalent size was no more than $100.00.
To be honest I can't remember which was the higher but I think it was the Sturdy.
At that time the shipping would have added to the cost as well.
The Amsec dealer did not charge me shipping if I waited a month for them to bring in an 18 wheeler load from Amsec.
Obviously I waited.
Best $2299.00 I ever spent.

Adirondack,I really liked the idea that Sturdy can offer shelving that can hold that kind of weight because I dont think any other gun safe company offers that much weight structure on their shelves.

Keizer, nice job on the lighting setup guy.

Edit to add...There are 15 Amsec dealers within 50 miles of me including the locksmith and safe dealer I even use at the commercial building I operate.
