AMT Hardballer

You got one that works, so did a lot of other folks, unfortunately a lot of folks also got ones that didn't work.

I've four AMT pistols and only one had problems which I was able to fix, but only the AMT .22 Lightning (Ruger MKII clone) has seen a high round count.

But I mostly carried my AMT BackUp .380 or .45 until the S&W SC360 and Kahr P40 came out.

Got an early 80s Hardballer that I picked up barely used when I was a brand new 2ndLt. Shot real straight right out of the gate, but had a couple of issues with it failing to feed HPs. Got my unit armorer to polish the ramp and swapped out a little stronger Wolff spring and that problem was solved. Over time, he also threw on a slick little beaver tail, a skeletonized hammer, and a little alum mag well guide. Got over 4K rounds through it now and I honestly can't remember when it last had an FTF or FTE. It is getting old and ain't as pretty anymore, but it is probably one of the few AMTs that sits in a nightstand next to a bed.

Won't ever get another AMT. I don't want to push my luck.

My Hardballer quickly showed it's quality problems. But after replacing the extractor, hammer, disconnector, barrel, link, pin and rear sight assy., it's a decent shooter. Too bad it wasn't a nice piece right out of the box.

I just picked up my Hardballer which had been traded in by a "gun butcher". It looked like he used vice grips to disassemble it. It was totally devoid of lubricant. It appears I have my "project gun". I will use the Wilson mags that have been proven to be good in my RIA after poor results with a couple of other brands over the years.

Have fun, be carefull, and don't get none onya!
