A guy at the designated ".22 range" was showing his sons how to shoot rifles first, then once he made sure they were safe and reasonably accurate let one of his sons try a very nice stainless steel Smith and Wesson .22 revolver. The father very slowly demonstrated both single and double action shooting with the weapon.
The son asked "are we out?" and the father turned his head toward me and said, "did we fire six shots or only five?"
"I don't know, I kinda lost track myself" I replied honestly, and then we both realized that we had unintentionally done a bit of Dirty Harry and had a good laugh.
The son looked perplexed and the father and I grinned one more time and he said, "It's from a movie, son. From way before your time."

Ridiculous!

My text tone is "There's a message for you." by HAL and it cracks most people up. And that movie is even older.

We should have a sticky with like ... Required watching.

Y'mean neither of you uttered any variation of "You just have to ask yourself: D'ya feel lucky today?"

I had a bit of a brain freeze and forgot that part! :banghead:

But we still had a really good laugh.

For that reason, and a few others, that day was a great example of "range therapy" - I left in a much better mood than when I arrived...

Cute

I see where you were headed and I got a smile out of that.

As to Magnum Force ,it has one of THE alltime best lines "Man's gotta know his limitations" !.

I have used that a few hundred times, and apply it to myself.

As to the sticky = hell yes to any and all movies that all shooters MUST see.

to name a few = Dirty Harry = all of them.

Clint Eastwood as The Outlaw Josey Wales = "you boys gonna pull those pistols ,or whistle Dixie".

The Good The Bad & the Ugly.

The Shootist

The list is going to be LONG for sure.

The Unforgiven= You just shot an unarmed man!!-Gene Hackman
Well...He should have armed himself.-Clint Eastwood

Best movie line in the world, in my opinion.

Once Upon a Time in the West.

I know it's staged and utterly hokey ... but the initial train station scenes are amazing gunslinging and the mood is undescribable.

The Shootist is a John Wayne Movie..........

I never liked the Dirty Harry movies for the guns. I liked them for the pro-cop/anti-criminal sentiment. The first movie came out at a time when our culture was starting to blame "society" for the actions of criminals.

Yeah, that turned out pretty well for all of us.

You should have said "I gots ta know"

I used to say that to myself in high-school. Then one day, my extremely understated physics teacher asks for an answer to a question, and says, "as the bank robber says in Dirty Harry, 'I gots ta know!'" I was surely the only one that got it, but that only made it better. :D
