CCW fees

Getting CCW permits to allow us to effectively defend ourselves was a major victory, but more needs to be done.

It was critical that states not lose money on the issuance of ccw permits and that those who are issued ccw permits, act responsibly.

The focus on CCW reforms should be.

1. Eliminate stupid restrictions that have no real public safety benefit, for example, no guns in restaurants. Ideally, we need to have some uniformity of state laws so that people traveling interstate don't inadvertently break laws by carrying in no carry zones.

2. Getting Castle doctrine in all 50 states, in other words, you should not face criminal charges for self defense based on what state you defended yourself in.

3. Supposedly we have equality under the law, but not when it comes to CCW permits in 8 states that have discretionary issue and 2 states that have no issue.

4. The fees for CCW permits do present economic hardships for people of limited income means and perhaps we need to focus on fee waivers or lower fees based on economic need.

Of course we should also figure out how we can help those people so that they can help themselves get out of their financial messes.

We need to realize that carrying a gun is a significant responsiblity and that a responsible CCW holder would practice regularly.

Do we really want people carrying guns who don't regularly practice with their guns that they carry?

Freedom doesn't work without responsiblity.

The cost of a ccw permit is under 1 dollar per day. Is your life worth one dollar per day.

If the fee for a 4 year permit is under 200 dollars and you won't spend it, that basically means that you won't spend even 5 dollars a month to protect your life.

If you don't have the money, I strongly suggest you need to fix your finances so that the permit fee is not a issue.
