Is there any good Turk 8mm ammo? Its getting real cheap again, 700 rounds for $27 (yes you get what you pay for). I just want some "blasting ammo" that won't blow-up my gun and goes in the direction I point the bore. I'll try it in my FN49 (proper gas ajustment) or my 98K. As long as the cartridges don't break-down into separate components thru casual handling and I can get a bang! 90% of the time I'll be content. Has anyone dared to you it in their semi-auto?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Turkish 8mm have a steel jacket? Wouldn't this cause excessive wear?

The bullets are cupro-nickel, if that's what your asking.

Tele; in my experiance all the Turk stuff is crap. Stay away man. Loads of dud's, squibs....and quite a few hangfires. I wouldnt play again. The latest stuff I have shot was 1938, so maybe if you could find later fodder it would be better. But I doubt it. Keeder:)

But $125 for over 3000 rounds on stripper clips no less! I could have a poor mans arsenal, all those pretty, clean, shiney cartridges. I could swim in them like Scrooge McDuck does with money. I know, I won't shoot any, just like Scrooge I'll just look and play with them but not use them. oops, time for my medication.:D

I've shot literally thousands of rds of turkish, and other than running into a few cases that had loose bullets, I've been happy with it. As accurate as anything else I've shot.

Now thats what I want to HEAR! Ok, who has shot any of the Turk ammo in a semi-auto?

How much did you have to pay for shipping? I was going to buy some 7.62x54R from them but shipping was steep.

Damn and I just recently bought 3000rds of 8mm Greek from CAI. But for <$.04/rd I may have to do it again. The bad part is the it takes 5 ammo cans to hold 3000 boxed Greek, so it would probably take at least six cans for 3000 rounds on bandoleers. I think I'llcall and see what the shipping will run. :scrutiny: :uhoh: :D

Yeah, shipping(UPS) to FL is $70.00 sooo 125+70 = 195/3300rds = $0.059/rd. That's pretty cheap entertainment... I think I paid about $0.07 / rd for the Greek..and it in boxes...

I have heard bad things about the 1943 and 1947 Turkish. Turkish 8mm from other years get pretty good reviews on the milsurplus board.

i hate you all!

when i buy 700 rounds of turkish 8mm dated '43, it costs me over $100. damn you all continental states residents and your low cost shipping rates! damn you all!!

:cuss: :fire: :neener:

I shoot Turk ammo that I got from Century in my Persian Mausers and it's dead-nuts accurate. I can shoot a 10-round 1/2" group at 50 yards with iron sights. I've never had a dud in my stuff. I wasn't expecting a lot when I got the ammo, but I love the stuff now. Every once in a while (1 in 10 or 1 in 20 rounds) I do get a flier, but I'm not sure if that's me or the ammo.

I have a few German K98s and Yugo M48s and I haven't tried it yet in those. I don't know if it performs as well in those mausers or not.
