Well I went to the Dallas gun show again today thinking originally I was going to look for a Walther PPK/S. I changed my mind and was seriously considering a Sig 232. I took my wife to see it as she will be the primary shooter of this gun. Before it was all over she ended up picking out and buying a Para Hawg 9 (high cap. compact 9mm). It was a bit out of character for me since I usually try to do a bit of research before a purchase but did not have the opportunity in this case. I think the price was right at $618.00 but don't know much more than that. Any comments on Para or more particularly this model? Guess I am just looking for reassurances.........a little late for that now though.

Well if she can grip it and shoot it. Should ge all right I had the older P-10 didn't work PARA fixed but I traded . I would have bought the S&W PPK/S Havea PPK/S in pocket at this time. I like the PPK/S for carry or the J frame .

Being an owner of a few of them ...

... I have to say that reliability straight out of the box is not always the best and may require a trip or two to the factory to get the bugs worked out. Customer service, on the other hand, in my experience, has always been top rate.

I carry a LDA 14.45. I got mine in the weird time period after the LDA trigger system but before the PXT power extractor. And my LDA actually has a hammer spur so it looks like a plain old 1911.

I like it. In fact I love the thing. Its never given me trouble. I had to send it in to be fixed once when I dropped it and it landed on the beaver tail and screwed up the grip safety. But in its defense the thing would still fire if I needed it to. The trigger just stuck a little.

But anyway, the Hawgs are nice, if you can deal with the grip. Personally I dont like short grips. It feels like the thing is going to fly out of my hand.

Para's have had a reputation as being hit or miss but I really think they've worked through that. I've had mine for quite some time and I've never once had a problem of any kind. Para is a great company.

Have a 13-.45

that I bought used. It has a great sight picture and feeds FMJ, JHP, LSWC in a variety of weights from a variety of mfrs. It has big grips (double stack) but I have big hands. I like it.

My P14-45 Limited has been my favorite gun purchase so far. Outstanding fit and finish. Great shooter too.

I've got Paras in .45 and I carry a single action P12. 2 of my friends have Paras in .45. We've nerver had any problems out of them and we each put hundreds of rounds a year though them.

I have three Paras, and I've become a big Para fan. I have an SSP (single stack, single action, full size 1911 in .45ACP), LTC lightweight (single stack, single action, commander size) and CCW (single stack, LDA trigger system, commander slide on office size frame). All have been 100% reliable and accurate. I couldn't be more pleased with them. I also own a couple of Kimbers and three Colts, and in my opinion the Paras are better values than either Colt or Kimber. The quality is as high or higher than Kimber and Colt for less money.

I am a huge Para fan also. I own two (P14 adn P12) and they are my primary carry/defensive guns. I have had zero problems with either and they are as realiable as any HK, Sig or Glock I have owned/shot.

I have no experience with the micro compact Paras, but that's bcz they don't fit my large hands. If my experience with the brand is any indicator, the Hawg 9 will serve you well.

Got any pics of it? :)

I've got a Para LTC steel that is my cold weather carry gun. I have a HBE holster ordered, so it might turn in to my full time carry gun! I have had zero problems not attributable to ammo. It eats hollowpoints all day long. I've actually been looking at the warthogs...I think I would have the front strap checkered to assist in gripping it, but that's just my preference.

I have a C7.45 LDA that has the round hammer. I bought it used. It was dirty and abused, but the thing still keeps ticking. It needed a new recoil spring and guide rod, I called Para about buying a new one and they just sent me a replacement for free. Can't beat that. It is my ccw pistol sometimes. My wife bought a Tac Four new. Other than replacing the factory mag springs with Wolff +10 springs (feeding issues) it has been great. She really likes it. IMO the LDA trigger is great.

+1. P14-45 Limited here as well. I had a 'regular' P14-45 stainless before that. Neither one ever jammed. I _really_ like the limited. It and my Sig P226 are my favorite handguns.

Para People

I agree! I have two LDA's (a 40 and a 45) and they have been flawless. I looked at the Warthog in 45 but it was a bit too small in my hand. Had the grip been a tad longer, it would have been mine.
