It’s got a bunch of heiroglyphics on the barrel, most of which I can’t decipher. If you’re able to help me, or know of a resource that will unlock the Remington code, I’d appreciate it

This is what I have on identifying Remington barrels .

Use this.

Remington Manufacture Dates (oldguns.net)

Looks like EA to me. E would be October. The A could be, 1932, 1954, 1980, or 2006. Since that gun wasn't made in 32, 54, or 06, it is probably a 1980 rifle.

The other markings are proof marks and it may have been returned to the factory at one time. They stamp codes to indicate that as well.

Looks like it might have gotten sent back for repair. Maybe got a new barrel. The world may never know.

The walnut stock suggest ‘67 or ‘68. Not too important, I guess. Thanks

I’ve been continuing to use Google-fu to maybe find something helpful. I found some information about serial numbers on this site

https://www.remingtonsociety.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21721

Looks like late 67, early 68 by my serial number - 6175xxx. That goes along with the walnut stock time frame. I should have just kept looking. I may not figure out what all the barrel codes mean, but I’ll go with 67-68 manufacture and it was sent back some time later for a new barrel

Some of the icons are builder marks. The triangle is an acceptance stamp for Crack detection. They used magnaflux for crack detection.
