I have some old rifles which I'm attached too which have their crown slightly pitted...a little bit rough to the touch.
The best way I can describe it is like the surface of an orange peel.
I do not want to re-cut the crown because I like the old stile rounded one and because is not worth the expense.
I was wondering if there is some very simple method to try to polish the crown using a combination of steel wool, abrasive paste, lapping compound/sand paper by hand.
There is not bluing left so I do not care about bluing...I want just to get that surface a bit polished and smoother.
Thank you!!!
