4 bore and 8 bore ammo? Anyone know anything about it? I am starting up a collection of oddball rounds to put on display in my shop and have a bunch of other stuff but I am coming up with zero on the 4 & 8 bore stuff...

Thanks,

Adam

Remington still uses 8 gauge ammo, in their industrial firearms line.

Yes, remington has a line of industrial firearms. Yes, it's the coolest use of firearms I have ever freakin' seen. Yes, I'm going to go try to get a job shooting a shotgun into a boiler.

Yes, there's a link.

you're welcome :D

Oh, and google search turned up an online shop selling russian 4ga. shotguns, but they said they did not have a source for ammo. So unless you go looking for antique ammo, you might be outta luck.

Also try googling "salute cannon." Many purveyors of these sell the ammo with them.

Here's an example of what you might find. These are 8ga BP salute loads... pretty, huh?

At the meeting of the local gun collectors club, a gentleman had a 4 bore elephant gun for show and tell. He said the brass had to be turned on a lathe and were about $25 each. He had some old shotgun cases too, as he had both the rifle and shotgun barrels for the gun. These shotgun cases were interesting as they were cardboard on brass, about 5 inches tall...they looked almost like toilet paper rolls with a brass ferrule. I'll ask him next month where they come from (if I don't have a brain freeze between now and then  )
