I like the 32acp
My first .32ACP was a KEL TEC. It did not shoot reliably and was the reason my next was a BERETTA Tomcat. The Tomcat was finicky on ammo (NEVER USE WINCHESTER WHITE BOX AMMO WITH THE FLAT TIP BULLETS). On the positive side, it is very easy to carry and shoots much better than I expected. With COR BON Powerball, it never jams.
I then added a COLT 1903 to my collection, but did not expect a lot in the accuracy department. WRONG! It not only shoots as well as larger, more modern pistols, it is nearly recoil free and feeds just about everything. I could carry it with either WINCHESTER Silvertips or COR BON Powerball.
The negatives for a carry gun are the size and weight plus I do not carry single action autos. For a range gun, it is a lot of fun, even the small sights turned out to work better than expected.
The fun factor in the COLT 1903 and my ability to get .32ACP without problems during the last ammo shortage convinced me to add the .32ACP to my range collection. Now, .32ACP is just as hard to find and more expensive to buy than .380ACP. So I shoot it mostly for fun, but also for carry.
Now I am shooting a BERETTA model 82 that I bought for a song at a gun show and a WALTHER PPK that was $100.00 cheaper than the PPK/S pistol which was in .380ACP.
The BERETTA, like the COLT 1903 is overbuilt for the .32ACP and that makes it a very accurate, very easy to shoot gun. Getting magazines is the only problem. I have qualified it with with four different hollowpoint loads and would use it if necessary for a defense pistol, though for the size, I would prefer a .380ACP model 84 or 85 or a SIG 232.
The WALTHER PPK lives up to its hype. This gun surprised me. It kicks a bit, but is not a problem in .32ACP and I know of some writers who curse at it for the heavy trigger and slide bite.
I have no been bitten once in the last 300 rounds and find the trigger is not as big a problem as often stated. I can shoot the PPK as well the BERETTA 82 and the PPK has so far not hung up on any ammo including FEDERAL Hydro Shok rounds. I may invest in a trigger job as the D/A trigger weight is heavy and the sights small, but as it is now, I do carry it as a pocket pistol without reservations.
