Anyone achieved good accuracy using Hornady GMX bullets in handloads?

I discovered that factory Hornady 120gr GMX ammunition doesn't shoot well in my 6.5 Creedmoor so I used an RCBS kinetic hammer to break down a couple of boxes to use the brass. I'm saving the primers for other loads but tossing the powder. Since I have 200 rounds or so of the GMX stuff I could try working up a hunting load that actually shoots well. I typically use Barnes bullets for hunting but if the GMX bullets are capable of decent accuracy it might be worth the effort. The target below shows factory Hornady 140gr A-MAX 5-shot groups at 12, 3 and 6. The group at 9 o'clock is the 120gr GMX load.

I don't know much about the GMX bullets, but your 140 Amax targets mirror my experience. Really an amazing factory load for the price.

I tried multiple loads on the 165g GMX .308 and never could get anything to group decently. Same for the Barns.

Gtscotty, I've shot numerous 5-shot groups now using the Hornady 140gr A-MAX load and the worst group has been 0.6 moa at 100 yards. As you say, an amazing factory load for the money but a bit on the slow side at 2,700 fps.

Nature Boy, I've worked up loads for .308 Win, .270 Win, 6.5x47 Lapua, .375 H&H Mag, .300 Win Mag and 300 WSM using Barnes TTSX bullets and have never had a problem achieving 0.5 moa groups. The factory VOR-TX has been hit and miss for me and other rifles I've tested.

I have a bunch of Barnes 120gr TTSX bullets in .264 cal but I'll probably work up a load for the 120gr GMX based off the Barnes data that I already have.

That's great that you've found the magic for the Barns bullets. I guess I've just relegated them to "Hunting" level accuracy, which they're designed for, and moved on to target specific designs for paper punching.

When it comes to accuracy in dual purpose bullets, my success has been with the Nosler BTs for .308 and SSTs for .30-06

Here's a .270 Win 130gr TTSX load I worked up for a friend of mine for her Kimber Mountain Ascent. That six shot group was shot from a cold/clean bore in under a minute at 100 yards. That particular load only took 15 rounds to figure out. Barnes TTSX bullets have always proven to be accurate for me (in handloads). I've had amazing results using Federal Trophy Copper 165gr .308 Win ammunition which I think uses a Nosler monolithic copper bullet so my personal experience with solid copper bullets has been very positive.
