No I just skin em and sell them green I sell to groenewold fur & wool co largest fur buyer that I know of, heres there web site www.gfwco.com they give good prices you can see there routes in the trapper and predator caller magazine i'm not sure if its on the website or not never been to it.

Looks like things are looking up. IIRC we were getting an average of 30 for ours back in the day. I was getting 50cents to a buck for possum.

Savage Shooter; in answer to your post #17. I live about 3 miles southeast of Galesburg. I too use to sell to GFW. No more now. You take say 15 coon in to sell (say give away) they will give 31.00 for 1coon, 15.00 for 3 coons, 10.00 for 2coons, then 2.00 a piece for the rest . I do'nt do coons that way. I buy stright across fair and even. The more work the seller does the more I give. My sources are saying, starting prices this season MAY be 16.00 up to 28.00 for XL-3X, skinned, combed, no blood, no dirt, one hole. Do'nt know what else to say but happy hunting and may your truck be piled high with hides.

Oh your live where my uncle lives he works up in the rail yard. I'm about 35-45 min south west of macomb. I wait till about last he gets in a hurry and needs to leave he gives you a good price a buddy brought all his years fur in 200+ coons he filled the bed of a dodge dakota to the top and sat around talking while everyone else was selling there fur(he new exactly what he was doing.) and kept letting people go infront of him. Finally he gets to be the last one. The guys running late he takes a look at how many coons he's got and say's i ain't got enough time to look at all them I'll give you 20.00 a piece for every one you got (great deal) buddy says nope I better get 25.00 theres some mighty big coons in there. Guy thinks about it and says fine hurry up and throw em on. He made some serious cash that day.

When I was a kid I used to go coon hunting with my grandpa in Iowa. He had a Ruger MarkII pistol and it worked like a dream.
I can still hear the hounds bay.

I would suggest a Jennings J-22 Pistol, they are fairly cheap but super reliable, I go coon hunting with mine all the time and It hasn't failed me once......In fact, I may go tonight just for the hell of it!

I've killed quite a few 'coons with my .22 caliber Browning Buck Mark Bullseye (7.25" barrel). The sights are excellent and the trigger is very, very good for a bone-stock, factory trigger. 6000+ rounds will tend to help the trigger, too. It's also the easiest-to-shoot handgun I've ever had the pleasure of shooting.

I highly recommend it!

Anybody ever consider using a laser sight at night for head-shooting coons? Maybe not necessary for you dead-eyes, but they sound like a lot of fun, and there would never be a miss or bad shot.

Probably not a bad idea, or you could go with a red dot. I remember one of the hardest things was getting some light behind those iron sights so you could see what you were shooting.
