.45 Auto Ruger P345. how do you like it? is it for a first time pistol owner?

I owned one for some time, and generally thought it to be fine.

Great ergonomics, superb reliability, accurate.

No FTE, no FTF in well over 2K rounds.

Sold it only to finance the next "latest and greatest".

I have one and it is great. Accuracy suffers greatly with Wolf (I have seen the light since then) The only failure ever was with a "gun show special" Pro-Mag 15 rounder.(gave it to a friend with a P90) It is currently my "bump in the night" with a M3 light.

If you get one, it takes the same mags as the P90. The P90 mags are about $5 cheaper

Accurate, good size and weight, reliable, eats everything I've fed it. Heck of a good gun at a really good price. I use +P 230gr for serious shooting, and the recoil still seems quite mild.

Have had one for about 9 months now and love it. Carry everyday as CCW. Have yet to have FTE/FTF with well over 1k thru it. The recoil really surprised me, quite mild and accuracy is very good.

I have no complaints. I would like to buy another one since I sold off the one I had. Just be sure if you dry fire to read the manual in regards to the magazine to avoid a firing pin issue. Great gun.

It was my first hand gun. I liked it so much I now own...well, let's just say considerably more than one :D

The price is great and mine has been extremely reliable (I had 1 FTF on the first mag I put through it and its 100% since then).

I have large hands and I find the gun to be very comfortable to shoot. My wife has the smallest hands that I've ever seen on an adult human being and she has no trouble with it either. The ergonomics are, IMHO, superior to many earlier Ruger guns.

Probably the only downside is not with the gun itself but with the price of .45 relative to 9mm or .22. If that's not a factor, I highly recommend the P345.

I thought about getting one but wound up going with a P90 instead. I guess I was turned off by the decoking lever I thought was awkward to manipulate compared to the P90 and the magazine safety is another feature I was not thrilled about. I guess the P345 just never made it onto my short list of what to get next but YMMV.

i've owned one for several months now. i have put 1000 rounds + through it it seems to like everything. FMJ's ( Winchester,Fiocci,CCI Brass, CCI Aluminum, Federal, Speer,) JHP's ( Remington, Federal , FederaL +P loads, Speer) . The list goes on . Only one misfire due to my error, but easily cleared and back to more shooting.
Recoils is nice, a little more with the +P loads but thats to be expected.
I'm 5'11 215lbs. ( Lots of padding where i don't need it ) but it carrys and conceals well. I carry it with an IWB and it's not even noticeable with a loose fitting t-shirt. There are times my wife doesn't even realize i'm carrying.
It has become my primary ccw.
Make sure you read the manual and familiarize yourself with the dry firing procedures.
i'm sure it has it's issues just like anything else . But it has proven to be just the right choice for me.
If you are worried about misfires, you might want to try a revolver .

Good luck

Mike

I also have one and I it's my carry gun too.

It's small design grip is better than others and it fits my hands very well.

I'm a small guy and it conceals really well for me.

Mine has been perfectly reliable in over 2000 rounds. I find it to be a very accurate gun as well, and recoil is minimal for a .45acp. My only complaint about it is what most people who own them actually like about it. The grip is just too small for my huge mitts, but I found I could counter the problem quite well by adding a full finger grooved butler creek rubber slip on grip. I did use mine as my ccw gun until the start of this year. Now it's become the nightstand gun since it has the light rail.
