I have a nice non-typical that I would like Cabela's to see. I heard they bought animal mounts/read it on their website. I was just curious what they would offer.

SimpleMan, I completely agree, I wasn't going to sell it. I just wanted to be able to tell people that Cabela's offered me X amount of dollars for it and I told them to stuff it! :D

Yeah, it's nothing spectacular, but it's a worthy find. We were out turkey hunting and found it. It's a skull with all teeth and no missing fragments of any sort with both antlers. It looks pretty weathered, as some of the tips of the tines were chewed off. I figured it might look good in one of their displays though. It scored a 208 5/8 with the missing tines, complete they said it would probably be about a 220. Pretty enormous. :D

Cabela's probably wouldn't be interested... I sold a Desert bighorn cape to them several years ago. I did a european mount with my sheep and the cape was in excelent shape. Since that is one of the hardest animals to come by in north america, they were interested and paid a hefty price for it. Recently I had to sell one of my bull elk mounts... no room to hang it (was over 5' tall and stuck out 4' from the wall)... It scored 350, was an awesome buguling mount and they said they only accepted donations now. They actually turn more donations away than they accept. They only buy if it is extremely rare. Bass pro shop bought my elk but only paid $800... $300 less than the taxidermy work. When the guy showed up to pick it up, his large truck was full of some of the nicest mounts I had ever seen. This guy goes all over the US picking up mounts. Try them...You can email them a photo and it will take about 2 months for them to get back to you, but they may give you an offer, but don't be to upset by the price.

There are companies that buy and sell animal trophies. You can find them on the net. I have seen some nice exotics priced at $2-3K for resale.
